LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Studio Limited Edition | The Gold and Silver Pair

The passionate heart of Leonardo Masterworks… rare and mysterious… the Gold and Silver Stages.

An inspired blend of artistic and technical expertise, perfectly designed to enhance our beloved Leonardo playing cards. They evoke the theatre, bring the tension of high drama, they are indeed a “Stage” providing the elevated platform for our main performer. We become the audience, and oh, the set design is stunning!

Crafted in gold and silver toned alloy, the metal Stage and paper tuck are alchemistically fused together, inseparable, creating something wondrously new… and yet completely timeless.

We are thrilled to present to you our magnificent new Art Playing Cards, as we continue to expand the horizons of the playing card Art!

Leonardo Masterworks. A Playing Card Renaissance.

We think Leo would be proud.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Gold Stage

The Leonardo Masterworks | Gold Stage demonstrates the holistic integration of form and function we aspire to.

The USPCC fine paper tuck is perfectly married to our precisely engineered metal Stage. It is at once seamless and whole, evoking grace and beauty, something you want to pick up and examine, again and again!

Historically, the Battle Horse, featured prominently on the front, was one of the Master’s greatest designs, but alas, it was never cast in his lifetime!

Leonardo said, “Of the horse I will say nothing because I know the times.”

To make up for this loss to history, we have translated his precise drawings into a carved relief, a noble steed that struts across the rocky and battle-scarred da Vincian landscape.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Stage Prototype | Photopolymer Acrylic

The Stage had been through many design iterations, in our quest to achieve this novel work of Art. Finally, we felt ready to prototype it with 3D printing.

The fit of the resulting print was simply perfect, a testament to the care and planning that had gone on throughout the complex design process.

We will continue to refine the design of the Stage as we work together with our foundry to engineer the final casting molds. Then we will carefully examine the final production prototype, and if all is well, we will give the “ok!” for casting 500 matching mirrored metal pairs!

It’s your generous support at this critical point that enables us to go from a highly detailed 3D print to a final cast metal Stage with our foundry partners.

♠ “First, I want to say you have created an amazing and beautiful design.” ~J.S.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | 360° VIEW
LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Foundry Visualisation for Precision Moldmaking

The Gold and Silver Stages, highlighting the three dimensional detail of the sculpt. The pair are perfectly mirrored, each Battle Horse prancing to confront the other.

The reverse side depicts two deadly mortars – war was an ever-present reality in Leonardo’s Italy. In fact, the bronze set aside for casting his magnificent Battle Horse was taken from his foundry and used to make…. canons!

Each Leonardo Masterworks | Silver Stage and Gold Stage will be signed and numbered on the bottom.

Note : We are limiting rewards to one pair per backer, so more people can participate, thank you for your understanding!

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Inside-the-Tuck Print | Leonardo Suit Symbols Motif

Both Leonardo Masterworks tucks feature an inside-the-tuck foil print, with our Leonardo suit symbols rampant.

Inside-the-tuck printing, when contextually adroit, masterfully completes a deck in spectacular fashion. The replication of the Leonardo suit symbols adds just the right touch of jovity, a feeling of rightness at first glance.

Previous backers of Leonardo will be delighted to discover that there is still a wild Lion within!

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | 3D Embossed Foil Stamp Seal

Your Leonardo Masterworks | Gold or Silver Stage is impeccably sealed with the most impressive custom perforated stamp we’ve ever designed. Or seen.

Our sculpted seal is truly 3D embossed! This is NOT the normal single “flat” embossing seals we all know, but instead it’s truly multi-level embossed! An expensive indulgence? You won’t feel that way when you experience the pleasure of seeing and touching it.

Leonardo, graced with wisdom, is seen in front of his famed mirror writing, forming a fitting tribute to the Master.

This stamp wins our seal of approval

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Playing Cards!

Leonardo Masterworks cards… stand up and take notice!

Our bestselling Leonardo playing cards, printed with love by The United States Playing Card Company. Meticulously fashioned in both gold and silver, each and every card is a miniature Leonardo masterpiece.

Literally years in the making.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Four Golden Queens

Greet the four Queens, each one a new realm to explore.

Composed from original Leonardo drawings and sketches, they are mirrored vertically to achieve a playing card “court”. The resulting double-headed figure is then layered between a number of additional works of Leonardo, all gleaned from his notebooks and codices.

A highly detailed parchment background, unique for each card, plus the original suit symbol in the corners completes our formalised symmetrical work.

Uncountable hours to realise… mind-blowing details to discover… a joy in the hand and a feast for the eye!

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | The Gold Ace of Spades

This exceptionally detailed study of a human skull is from The Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace.

It forms a mortal match for our Ace of Spades, known in the playing card world as The Death Card. One of Leonardo’s Polyhedra is interpolated ominously into the center.

He drew these geometrical illustrations for his friend Luca Pacioli’s book The Divine Proportion (1509). They are believed to be the first of their kind, as they were notoriously difficult to conceptualise and render accurately.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | The Silver Card Back

A dozen diverse elements merge seamlessly together to form our enigmatic card back.

One of Leonardo’s most popular works, The Vitruvian Man from the Gallerie dell’Accademia in Venezia, famously displays the ideal proportions of man. Other figures depicted on the back include an equine head, blossoming flowers, and two marvelous examples of geometrical polyhedra.

Visual poetry, writ in gold and silver tones.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Metal Commemorative Card in Silver

A special gift to celebrate our campaign, we are including in every Studio Limited Edition deck, this epic Metal Commemorative Card!

We have created one in gold and one in silver (shown above) to match the two decks. Exactly 500 of each metal card will be made. This custom double-sided card serves as a certificate of authenticity, proof that you are the proud owner of a Leonardo Masterworks | Studio Limited Edition

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Rhombicuboctahedron, aka “Rhombi”

The first printed version of the Rhombicuboctahedron appeared in Leonardo’s 1509 Divina Proportione

It is an Archimedean solid with eight triangular and eighteen square faces.

We are pleased to offer it meticulously presented in 24K Gold Plated Bronzed Steel!

Our “Rhombi” is approximately 1.25″ (3.17 cm) in size, with a surprisingly satisfying heft to it. It’s pure joy to revolve in one’s hand as you sit quietly contemplating the universe!

  •  Leonardo Masterworks | Rhombi | 24K Gold Plated Bronzed Steel | $48

Hand inspected, expertly packed, and shipped direct to you worldwide from our studios in Switzerland | $18

FREE SHIPPING for this add-on to backers pledging $75 or more.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Mortar

Leonardo had a lifelong interest in military theory.

The vulnerability of Medieval fortresses to cannon fire, with the introduction of gunpowder to Europe in the 15th century, led to the development of thick ramparts, with bastions of defensive mortars that would allow calamitous fire in all directions.

The Mortar is approximately 1.25″ (3.17 cm) and feels solid, heavy and dangerous. Defend your castle with this awesome (yet strictly non-functional) canon!

  •  Leonardo Masterworks | Mortar | 24K Gold Plated Bronzed Steel | $64

Hand inspected, expertly packed, and shipped direct to you worldwide from our studios in Switzerland | $18

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Skull

Leonardo’s haunting human skull, blends Art and mortality.

The skull, cut in two, has the frontal and maxillary sinuses, the nasal cavity and the roots of the teeth exposed on the side where the wall of the skull has been cut away. All the fissures in the skull are clearly and accurately modelled.

The bone structure of the head has been universally admired for its accuracy and proportion. Our faithfully sculpted figure is approximately 1.25″ (3.17 cm) in size.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Battle Horse

Leonardo drew horses throughout his life.

Leonardo’s Battle Horse was a sculpture that was commissioned in 1482 by Ludovico il Moro, the Duke of Milan, but was never completed. It was to be the largest equestrian statue in the world, a monument to Francesco Sforza, the duke’s father.

Centuries after his original project failed, Leonardo’s surviving design materials help us as a basis for our figure!

Our masterfully sculpted figure is approximately 2″ (5.1 cm) in size.

  •  Leonardo Masterworks | Battle Horse | 24K Gold Plated Bronzed Steel | $88

Hand inspected, expertly packed, and shipped direct to you worldwide from our studios in Switzerland | $18

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Bog Oak Vault

Yes, this is really ancient stuff. Our Bog Oak Vault is made from wood that is over 2000 years old!

Bog-wood is a material from trees that have been buried in peat bogs and preserved from decay by the bog conditions, sometimes for hundreds or even thousands of years. Bog-wood represents the early stages in the fossilisation of wood. It is a rare form of timber that is comparable to some of the world’s most expensive tropical hardwoods.

LEONARDO MASTERWORKS | Bog Oak – Past to Present

Our exceptionally rare hexagonal Bog Oak Vault is handmade in Europe by a master craftsman. It is precisely assembled, carefully sanded, and then finished with six coats of oil!

Our 24K Gold Plated Bronzed Steel Battle Horse is permanently attached as a handle for the case lid.

There is a form fitting interior that holds one pair of Leonardo Masterworks | Studio Limited Edition decks (not included).

Each and every Leonardo Masterworks | Bog Oak Vault is handmade and completely one-of-a-kind.
