Roseroot Fabrics produces vibrant, earth-friendly textiles in the city of Chicago. I’m passionate about working in the intersection between industrial fabrication methods and sustainably produced craft goods because it allows me to bring thoughtfully made products to the market on a grander scale.
I founded this company so I can create unique, cutting-edge designs that are both functional and environmentally responsible.
With your generous financial support I’m confident I can establish an even larger market for Roseroot Fabrics thanks to my strong formal design education (I have a BFA in Painting and an MA in Environmental Textile Design) and hands-on training in the contract textile industry.
There will be no minimum requirement for ordering fabric and all goods will be made to order so there’s no excess ink or discarded fabric in the production process. Plus, I chose a manufacturer that uses non-toxic pigments and refillable ink cartridges which further cuts down on unnecessary waste. Above all else, I plan to produce innovative and environmentally-friendly textile designs that will bring brightness and beauty to residential and commercial interiors.
The money raised here will go towards manufacturing costs, creating fabric sample books for clients, testing fabrics to ensure they meet contract-grade standards, and packaging designs. I also plan to invest in marketing, branding, and web development for Roseroot Fabrics.
I come from a family of small business owners, so I’m well aware of the risks and challenges of starting a business, but I’m also excited about the potential rewards. I’ve been working in and studying the textile industry for more than a decade, and I’ve discovered that long lead times are the main cause of customer frustration and order cancellations. To avoid similar delays with Roseroot Fabrics, I’ll be working with a manufacturer whose lead times are some of the quickest in the industry. I also recognize that the textile industry is very competitive which is why I’ve assembled a team of talented web developers, marketers, and product photographers to help bring Roseroot Fabrics into people’s homes. And I’ve created a detailed budget and business plan to ensure accountability to and transparency for backers.

In opposition to fast fashion and throwaway culture, I’ll test all fabrics for abrasion, flammability, and light-fastness to ensure their longevity and heirloom quality.
Rather than contribute to the catastrophic amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills each year, I’ll ask my customers to return unused samples and yardage to me. That way I can recycle the unused fabric in a cradle-to-cradle manner.
I will use non-toxic materials which pose little to no harmful threat to the environment
My manufacturer will use nontoxic, water-based pigments in my fabrics which pose little to no threat to the environment while retaining their color vibrancy. Plus, they employ recycled industrial ink cartridges to reduce plastic waste. Additionally, since all textiles ordered from Roseroot Fabrics will be made to order, I won’t waste excess ink or fabric producing unnecessary yardage.
