Riot is the first graphic novel series created by me, Daniel Clarke. I will also be releasing the series via my publisher site @ Dark Wave Comics.
The story of Riot: Vol 1 spawned from a true incident that occurred (the infamous 2011 riots) in London, that I was somewhat “involved” with. I was arrested and sentenced to jail (for a short while) too. Eventually, I decided that I wanted to tell my side of the story. After some years passed, I began writing my accounts, but instead of it being completely accurate, I decided to add science-fictional & fantasy tropes that I admired to turn my own story into an inspiring version of what will be a new take on a superhero’s origin.
Riot follows the main protagonist, Callum Clarke, as he goes through a series of events that take major influence and inspiration on other real-life moments of our world. Taking the notion of “being at the wrong place at the right time” takes a toll of unfortunate events on Callum, as we begin to follow him, from an average guy to a hero of London. An urban story with intense realism (and brilliant artwork to go along with it) that shouldn’t be missed.
The first volume will consist of five issues, over 170 story pages altogether. Not including covers and extras.
So far, Issue #1 is completed and Issues 2, 3, 4 and 5 are on the way. They will be worked on back to back. Which is why I have made the release date for the complete volume to be late 2020.
The story/script is complete. The only thing needing to be done is the artwork, which I’ll be having finished by a friendly artist at a fee. This is where most of the funding will go towards, along with, printing and delivery fees.
After the completion of Volume 1, I will continue onto the next volume. Hopefully, if this campaign is supported enough then I may attempt another Kickstarter campaign for it too.

All backing is truly appreciated and will be treated as such.
Hey guys, Daniel here. Now despite this being my first Kickstarter…If I happen to encounter some challenges along the way, I’m highly determined and prepared to face them. The only setback I can foresee is the delivery taking longer than anticipated. This may be due to not having the volume currently completed. Since I am not the artist and having to pay the artist their fees, the volume completion is determined on whether I can fund it by paying them. First two issues are almost complete (Issue 1 is), there’ll be three more issues to go. Which is why I have set a specified delivery date for late 2020. That being said, if we are completely funded, there’s a possibility that the delivery might be sooner than early September. I will always keep you all updated on any changes or delays.
