Hello there! I’m trying to get a graphic novel series finished, but first I need some help in getting the current book that I’m on done. Also, I’m expanding into the next book in the series, as well. I already have book 1 done, currently on book 2, expanding into the next book (3). Book 1 is 15 chapters, book 2 has 8 chapters (so far) and I plan on it being around 12-13 chapters.
The series itself, is about a young boy (Ned, my brother’s comic character) who unknowingly unleashes chaos upon his world allowing various monsters to plague his city. The series tells the tale of how the monsters become unleashed, and lead up to them being contained once again. Also, within the series there is a side story in every book that involves Ned’s oldest brother who must escape a dream-like place or remain there forever. It’s gunna be a lot of fun!
In book 1 of Rapid Descent, Ned unknowingly unleashes chaos upon his world, which comes in the form of a dog (?, your guess is as good as mine). The dog-like creature digs up a vacant lot to unleash its first monster to terrorize Ned and his friends. The monster being, a manticore. The manticore had one job, to snatch up Ned, but it mistook Ned’s older brother for him. And, it’s shortly after that moment that the manticore realizes its mistake to let Ned’s brother fall from a height that he most certainly wouldn’t ever recover from.
It’s at that point in book 1 that Ed (Ned’s oldest brother) is sent into his dream-like place that he must escape from. It’s called a “Dream Escape”, and he is first greeted by a young woman that seems to be enticing him into a trap. However, Ed quickly becomes aware of this and stays vigilant. It’s a short time later that he encounters another young woman who sends him on a quest for a dagger that will help him escape the place that he’s in. And, it’s during the quest that Ed comes to find out that he’s more capable of doing things than he ever thought. But, in the end Ed must make a very hard decision that does in fact get him out of the Dream Escape.
However, that’s just the side story! The main story deals with Ned and a team that assembles to go look for Ed and the monster that snatched him up. The team gather up while Ned’s other brother is sent out to look for Ed, and then they waste little time to go look for the manticore. They eventually do find the manticore with the help of a Native American man and formulate a plan to “put the monster down”. Ned is obviously chosen to slay the manticore since it’s his brother that it snatched up. And, he does slay the manticore with an arrow fitted with a tooth from the lion that Hercules slayed so many years ago, after it was laced in Airtimes’ Gold.
The series is themed with Greek Mythology, Action/Adventure, Family/Friends, Young Adults, Monsters, and of course the late 90’s. The series tells the story of how Ned becomes the total embodiment of chaos, when he is everyone, everywhere, and at all times. Yeah, it’s a complicated story that can’t be told in just 1 book or 2. Hence, why I need to do a full series. I plan on there being a 15 book series in this. However, currently, I’m on books 1 and 2. Book 1 is done, while book 2 needs some help.
All I’m asking for is that people fund the second book’s completion by ordering books 1 and 2 (when it gets finished). I, also, have rewards set up for input for book 3’s completion. So, be sure to check all the rewards out. There are various other offers in the rewards section, but that’s just to get the full series done. But still, I gotta try to get these books done. I have faith in this series, and in the comic character/s of the story. I hope others have faith as well.
Common Risks, publishing and shipping! I have a decent publisher set up, but they have a set limit on the minimum number of books I can order. So, I need to know how many books to shoot for, first. And shipping-wise, it’ll depend on where the book is going. For short, quick, travels I have it set up. But, longer travels will require a sturdier packaging. I’ll need to get that. Challenges, my work schedule! I’ll only have Saturdays to ship the orders out, so I’ll do my best to get them out on time. Also, communication with you people will be done on Saturdays. I have limited access to internet, these days. However, I’ll work on it. Because I really want this project to work out.
