Keeping an eye on things while you’re away is simple. With Guardian Camera, turn any device (phone, tablet or phone) with an internet connection into a security camera, no matter where you are. This highly-scalable web application can be tailored to record and take action on specific events either locally or remotely. All you need to do is set up peer-to-peer access. Once the connection is established, the possibilities are endless!
You can relax, knowing that your home is under the watchful eye of Guardian Camera. If there is a sound or movement where it shouldn’t be, you’ll be alerted and the incident will be recorded and stored.
While video surveillance is the main purpose of the Guardian camera, potential uses are only limited by the imagination.
Guardian Camera will replace your baby monitor with something incredibly more powerful: Keep an eye on your children from the next room or even when you’re out of the house.
Have you hired a cleaner or a babysitter? Perhaps you’re having work done in your house. With Guardian Camera, you can be completely sure that everything is above board.
Because Guardian Camera detects a lack of movement, it’s perfect for monitoring machinery. If something in your factory stops working, you’ll receive an instant notification – minimizing downtime costs.
The sooner you spot a slacking employee, the sooner you can make necessary changes. Guardian Camera lets you watch a live feed of your office which you can record as evidence. If you’re worried about your business, act immediately!
Don’t leave your puppy or cat alone without supervision – provide your pet with endless care. Guardian Camera turns any two devices into the perfect pet-sitting assistant.
Guardian Camera provides a full set of features that are easy to adopt within a short period. Specifically tailored to improve a user’s surveillance experience, it’s never been easier to customize your video monitoring settings.
All you need to do is to create a room with a unique name, then share it. Once the room is accessed by another user, a “join” request is sent to the room creator. The peer connection is only established when the request is approved.
Guardian Camera uses a software-based monitoring algorithm. When triggered, it captures the event via motion detection or simply shows the motion detection using a motion heat map.
Guardian Camera uses the built-in microphone to detect noise in the surrounding area. It also identifies the noise source (based on sound level value). If the sound level crosses a certain limit, an immediate notification will be sent.
Deter thieves, interact with visitors, soothe babies, and correct behavioral problems by playing sounds while watching the livestream. Prevent a negative action before it ever happens.
Receive instant smart push notifications when your device picks up on any movement or sound. The detection of events is fully automatic.
The camera is able to use an LED light from your phone (or another capable device) to illuminate surroundings. Browser permission is prompted to enable this feature, and once permission is granted, the camera flash can be turned on or off.
No peer connections are allowed in this mode. This means that there will be no access requests until this mode is turned on. The private room can only be viewed on the device on which it was created and can be used with or without an internet connection.
Any internet-connected device can become infected with viruses, malware, or spyware which threaten the security of your privacy. To defend your device against any potential threats, the principal solution is to install firewalls and anti-malware software.
With Guardian Camera, there’s no need to worry about any of that. This product utilizes Web Real-Time Communications (WebRTC), an API that provides users with live audio and video streaming. Because it works within the browser, you won’t need to download any software or plugins to set up a peer-to-peer (P2P) data exchange. The only security you need is already native to your browser.
Guardian Camera requires user permission to enable microphone and camera access – even before communication begins. Typically, your web browser will ask you to allow a webcam and microphone permission before connecting you.
Encryption is built into WebRTC and turned on by default. Regardless of the browser you’re using, private peer-to-peer communication is safe thanks to WebRTC’s advanced end-to-end encryption features.
All data that’s transferred through the Guardian Camera application is encrypted using the Datagram Transport Layer Security method. This encryption effectively addresses all security concerns ensuring that eavesdropping and data manipulation can’t happen.
In addition to DTLS encryption, data is also encrypted through Secure Real-Time Protocol, This safeguards IP communications from hackers, so video and audio streaming are kept private.
When you enter a video room, a toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen, including various tools you can use while the monitoring system is running. This toolbar lets you manage all aspects of your surveillance experience.
Since I don’t have access to unlimited resources to pour into this project, setbacks are possible. From browser API changes to late-surfacing bugs and the complexities of managing a video and audio pipeline, there are many areas where things could be delayed. I do have extensive app development experience, including many WebRTC apps, so I am confident in my ability to push through obstacle after obstacle, but software development is by its nature unpredictable, and patience may be required as I endeavor to deliver a top-quality product. This project is certainly a risk in regard to time, money, and energy, but I believe it’s one well-worth taking. This is a project we’re very passionate about. I believe a web app like Guardian Camera should exist, and I am willing to see it through. The challenges surrounding this project are much larger than I initially imagined. According to my planning, the funds I am collecting in this campaign will be enough to cover the costs of hosting, domain registration, SSL certificates and (I am going to do it myself) updates and security management. In case things don’t go as planned and these funds run out, I’ll be putting in my personal savings into whatever is needed for the fulfilment of what’s being promised to the backers of this campaign. If I don’t meet the minimum fund’s threshold requirement, it will be nearly impossible to launch Guardian Camera before the end of this year, but I won’t let this project die. I am pretty positive that I will be able to find another way to get it out there, even if it takes six months to a year longer to launch.
