What defines who you are?
What stories have shaped the person you see when you look in the mirror?
Our lives are made up of moments that have slowly chiseled away at our soul, carving out what makes us, well, us. Our characters are crafted by every experience, every interaction, every failure and mistake, every success and lesson. And when we come together to share these stories…
When someone can listen and say, “I’m where you were two years ago,” and pull inspiration or motivation from that…
Or hear what your heart is driving towards and say, “Let me help you get there!”
Something powerful happens.
“Stories of the experiences and adventures that got you to where you are, and the stories of others that may get you to where you’d like to be.”
The Character Mill is a social platform that gives you the ability to share the adventures and experiences that have impacted your character, and spark a conversation with a community of impassioned people around the globe. Through this sharing, community members can relate, be inspired, find motivation, and glean a hunger for new adventures and experiences that they can bring to their life, too. The funds raised through this Kickstarter campaign are going to give this Community a pulse! Through an increase in marketing efforts, sponsoring events, creating the most interesting podcast that we can all relate to and forming relationships with other companies that share in our social mission that life is meant to be lived, stories are meant to be told and impacting a life in a positive way is incredible we hope to bring this Community to the entire world.
The Character Mill also gives you access to Character Partners, which are a variety of product and service providers who recognize the way their businesses can support the character experiences others can have. These providers have agreed to offer community members the chance to participate or purchase at a discounted price or receive an added value as well as help contribute funds to The Flat Box Project. These partners are not advertisers or sponsors in a traditional sense. In other words, we are not going to inundate your feed with their offerings. They are like-minded people and businesses who want to link our community up with experiences that can support their hopes and goals. The vast majority of our Character Partners also have a social cause of their own…thus it is a WIN all the way around! The circle goes round and round, too, because once you’ve stepped out of your comfort zone and experienced a new adventure… you have a new story to tell.
The Character Mill is also spearheading the Flat Box Project, which promotes the idea that maybe we don’t need to “think outside the box,” because maybe we aren’t stuck in a box, to begin with; maybe there are no walls holding us in. Opportunities are endless when a community comes together to facilitate them!
And so, our goal with the Flat Box Project is to open character-building experiences to those who may not have the financial means, or who need an extra boost of support, care, and motivation. People may nominate themselves or someone they know by completing a simple application. Utilizing a percentage of all revenue from within The Character Mill and the experiences and skills of the community members, life-changing experiences will be constructed for each awarded participant.
The Big Why
This is my life’s work! I enjoy meeting and working with new people and learning their stories. However, on three separate occasions, that was almost taken from me with near-death experiences, and it wasn’t until the most recent scare that I realized maybe I am meant to do more. That maybe my passion for storytelling and experiences runs deeper.
Now, I’m excited to offer a way for everyone to be encouraged to grow through conversation, and impact each other’s lives in a positive way through the adventure.
“STORIES ARE MEANT TO BE TOLD, LIFE IS MEANT TO BE LIVED. CHARACTER CAN BE GROWN EVERY DAY AND IMPACTING A LIFE IN A POSITIVE WAY IS THE COOLEST THING ON THE PLANET!”
– Chris Christie
The Character Mill is not being set up as a non-profit… and we are doing that intentionally. We don’t want someone to come in and write a big check; this project is bigger than financial support. We want the experiences and stories to come from people from all over the world… same platform, same voice with a common cause. Our biggest challenge is making people aware of the platform and encouraging their friends to join the community.
