Bare&Bond started out of a desire to create an incredible and exciting way of discovering new perfume. A way that honours the pure artistry in perfume, away from the mass marketing and the soulless tester strips. An experience that gave people time to test the perfume in their own time.
We’ve partnered with independent artisan perfumers to allow you to try the perfume with exceptional quality that you’ll never find on the high street. We’ve also collaborated with artists who create collections of paintings based on the featured perfumer and perfume in each edition.
So far we have bootstrapped the Bare&Bond editions. While this is great for the early stages of Bare&Bond and getting exceptional perfume into the hands of everyday perfume wearers, it does mean that the experience of receiving and opening the Bare&Bond box is worse than expected and doesn’t reflect the quality of perfume inside.
So, here’s what we want to do…
Create a fully printed box which will be 100% recyclable, showcasing the art that has been created for the edition. The box will be expanded out making it longer to include a little box inside for the recipient to give away one of their perfumes to someone else. This empowers people to be generous with what they have but also enables then to waste less of the perfume we give them if they decide one of the three perfumes isn’t for them.
Why is the box important?
“It’s only packaging” I hear you say, “surely if the perfume is good, it doesn’t matter what the box looks like.”
1) It showcases the perfume
Imagine buying something of high value, maybe a diamond necklace, handcrafted by one of the best jewellery makers in the business. Imagine that diamond necklace came in a plastic bag. The packaging would diminish the value of the diamond necklace. It’s the same with our packaging, right now our box is functional. It holds the perfume and goes through the letterbox however, it isn’t pretty or elegant. It certainly doesn’t reflect the quality of the perfume inside.
The new box, not only straight away gives a visual representation of the perfume but also reflects the true quality of the perfume.
2) It showcases the art
We currently use a small brown box and print the artwork on a sticker that then goes around the box. It does allow you to see the art but it doesn’t show the full greatness of the art.
Our plan is to expand out the box making it longer and have the while outside and part of the inside covered in the piece of art.
There are 3 different rewards for pledging…
1) One-off Bare&Bond box
2) A 6-month Bare&Bond subscription (2 Bare&Bond boxes)
3) A years Bare&Bond subscription (4 Bare&Bond boxes)
“Ok so, why are boxes costing £5000” we hear you ask.
The boxes aren’t that much but there is no point in buying boxes with your funding and then not be able to pay for anything to go inside the boxes in order to give you your rewards, like perfume, storybook, bottles ect.
So it’s clear what the money is for, here’s our budget.

This a quite a simple project and everything is in place to both fulfil the project of getting new boxes. Fulfilling the pledge rewards has been factored into the goal. Once compleating the campaign, the challenge will be keeping up momentum and seeing our sales as a company rise.
