Washi (和紙) is a type of traditional Japanese paper, ‘Wa’ meaning Japanese and ‘Shi’ meaning paper. Washi tape is a type of decorative masking tape that works well for scrapbooking, gift wrapping, packaging, journals, and all kinds of papercraft! You can tear them by hand, making it easy to carry around and use without any additional tools. They come off easily on most surfaces and are residue free.
Our project is to create a set (or our first volume) of washi tape designs! They will be 15mm thick and 10 meters long per roll. You will be able to select your design(s) of choice at the end of the Kickstarter campaign.
The funding for the project will go towards manufacturing the tapes as well as the individual packaging that they come in. Funding also goes towards any additional fees/taxes/shipping costs.
The first 50 people who pledge for a set of 10 washi tapes will receive a random clear tape from our current inventory, a value of 8USD! This is a way for us to thank our first supporters!
We may add additional stretch goals in the future, such as free stickers or postcards!
Hideaway Melon has produced over 10 washi and clear tape designs successfully in the past, but our goal with this Kickstarter is to produce a higher quality, easy to tear tape that has good adhesive ability without leaving any tape residue behind. Some tapes are known to have weaker adhesive qualities or do not tear cleanly from the roll, and our goal is to mitigate those negative qualities, even if that means a higher cost to us or a longer production time. We believe the quality of the stationery we use is important, because it makes the art and papercraft process much more enjoyable and relaxing :)
