Flatiron Pepper Co needs your help!
Our mission is to show people a better alternative to the bland, underwhelming, generic red pepper flakes you see on a daily basis. You know the ones we’re talking about. They’re usually in an old dented shaker at a pizza parlor, or in a dusty Kroger bottle at the back of your spice cabinet, or even worse, in some small paper packets left over from the last time you ordered takeout! Little flavor and even less heat. We knew there had to be a better option, so we created Flatiron Pepper Co.
Over the past couple years, we’ve been able to share our chile pepper blends with thousands of happy customers. No salt, no additives, just incredibly flavorful pepper flakes from around the world. Forget generic “red pepper”; we use chiles like Habanero, Jalapeno, Arbol, Ghost, Chipotle, Ancho and Hatch Green! We love being able to share our delicious pepper flakes with the world. And to our friends and customers, we thank you for this opportunity.
However, we haven’t managed to come out with a new blend in over a year. We’re a small company, and each blend seems to create new, unexpected challenges that can make us reluctant to take the plunge. Our last creation was “I Can’t Feel My Face”, a superhot mashup that forced us to find two new farms, as well as develop an entirely new method of blending and filling (just too physically painful to fill the old fashioned way!)
But we’re always experimenting. And we’ve prototyped a new blend which is totally different than anything we’ve tasted before. We’re calling it “Sweet Heat” and it’s a blend of certain types of Ancho, Red Bell and Caribbean Scotch Bonnet peppers. Together they combine to deliver a surprising sweetness up front with a huge, fruity burn in back. So far our favorite uses are on Jerk Chicken and oven roasted veggies, but it’s honestly great on almost anything. We love it, and we’re determined to make it, whatever the challenges may be.
So, we’re asking for your help. The funds that you pledge will be used to source the new peppers from new farms to make Sweet Heat a reality, as well as purchasing materials (bottles, caps, labels) and expanding our packing capabilities to support another product line.
You can check out our current offerings at www.flatironpepper.com and please send us an email through kickstarter or at info@flatironpepper.com if there’s anything we can help you with.
Thank you for your support and allowing us to share our peppers with you!

A common risk for us is delayed shipments from our suppliers. We’re working with farms and processors who are growing the peppers to a certain specification, and things tend to take longer than expected. We believe we have accounted for this in our delivery estimate, but there is always a risk we have underestimated delays.
