Welcome to the Button Shy reprint campaign! We have recently published our 55th Wallet Game and wanted to revisit some favorites that have run low or out of stock. This campaign will work a little differently than our usual campaigns. Here we will start with 3 fan favorites and as stretch goals are hit, we will add more games to the print run. With each stretch goal, we will invite you to help vote for the next game that we add. With each new game, we will add a new reward level allowing backers to get all of the games at these Kickstarter discounted prices.
THE FOLLOWING GAMES ARE AVAILABLE AS OF NOW:
And we can unlock even more during this campaign. A few eligible games of note are Avignon: A Clash of Popes, Avignon: Pilgrimage, Banned Books, Cunning Folk, The Maiden In The Forest, Stew, and many more.
Let’s jump into the available games!
You are in attendance of an amazing horse race and your goal is to end up with the most points by the end of the race. In Mint Julep, players draft cards, place bets and then manipulate the race in order to ensure the horse that they want to win ends up finishing the race in a top spot. Be careful where you place your bet because the odds might be against you!
Each game is played in 3 Rounds that each consist of three phases: drafting cards for your hand, betting on which horse you think will win, playing movement cards to adjust the order of the horses in the race.
Final scoring is based on where horses start in the race (horses starting in lower positions are worth more points), where horses end in the race (more points earned for higher place finishers), and when a bet was played (with later bets being worth less than earlier bets). Score the highest points with your bet and you win!
Some of the biggest questions in the world of science may be answered by studying quarks, the smallest of particles. The problem with trying to study quarks is that you can’t find just one quark; you need to find them in groups called hadrons, or some other exotic particles, like the Pentaquark.
In Pentaquark, you are trying to give science a little helping hand by collecting the five quarks that form this particle at the detector of a massive particle collider. Move cards you need to the detector, discard others so they may come back as anti-quarks, and try to minimize the number of quarks scattered and lost. If too many cards are removed from the game, the Pentaquark has slipped through undetected once again!
All players play as thieves who are pulling bills out of a wallet stuffed with cash. What none of them know, is any player may be an undercover cop, trying to catch as many thieves as possible.
In Pickpockets, players will take turns either drawing or manipulating money cards in a wallet until a player reveals themselves as an undercover cop, yelling “Hands up”. All other players will reveal their cards.
The Undercover Cop Wins if at least one other player has two or more marked bills in their possession. Otherwise the Pickpocket with the most money wins. Alternatively a player can skip town if they have enough unmarked money in their possession.
We normally don’t do stretch goals, but it’s the entire point of this campaign! Each stretch goal will unlock a new game, which backers will vote for in the comments. When a new game is unlocked it becomes part of the pool of games you can choose from at the end of the campaign. Keep an eye on the updates to vote for your favorites! Here are some potential stretch goal games (and even more that aren’t shown here).
We will pick about 3 at a time and ask you to vote for your favorite through the updates here. But feel free to start discussing your favorite games in the comments.
Want to add more games to your order to save on shipping? Or order some games to ship now… with a discount? We have a few dozen at our website that are in stock and won’t be offered as part of this campaign. Some of the longtime sellers like Sprawlopolis, some recent games like Handsome and The Perfect Moment, and many more.
Here’s how to add games to your Kickstarter order:
With monthly Wallet Game releases and a following of repeat customers, we’ve built the Board Game of the Month Club.
It’s a subscription service where you receive unreleased microgames, promo cards, expansion content, and Kickstarter discounts…. every month. Supporters will receive from $1, $2, $5 to $10 off of EVERY WALLET GAME THAT WE MAKE. (See the $1 level here, that’s where the members back the projects).
In 2019 supporters received Chain Mail (a solo and co-operative dungeon crawl system), Tempus Quest (a not quite roll and write), as well as 9 card micro games, expansion / promo cards for our existing games, and at $20 a month, supporters receive all of the above and a copy of the featured wallet game (or the wallet game of your choice).
But we’re getting close to 2020 where we shift things a bit. There are a few new monthly games that will be revealed on December 1st, as well as some of the additional content to expect. I can only say that we have a big long awaited expansion planned for one game, and 4(!) expansions planned for another game. There’s also a new line of extra tiny games in the works, which will work their way into the club next year.
If that sounds cool to you, check out the Board Game of the Month Club on Patreon!
With our method of publishing and using multiple manufacturers, there’s always a chance that one part of the game could come in with an error, leading to delays. We’ve been able to minimize these errors in recent years, but they can happen from time to time. We’ve also upped our staff internally to make sure we can hit intended deadlines.
Our two unfulfilled projects are moving along according to our updated schedule. Seasons of Rice is partially here and will start shipping in November. Hierarchy is due to fulfill in January and is on track as planned.
