This is an airport tycoon simulator being created by fans for fans of aviation. In this game, you will play through 150 years of history of air travel. You will develop your own airport within the framework of historical progress: from the very beginning of civil aviation to the near future.
CUSTOMIZABLE SANDBOX
You can try to build an airport in various conditions. Each new game session will differ from the previous one. Like in the old-style PC tycoon games, the player can set up a lot of parameters to the world before building the airport:
SEVEN ERAS OF AVIATION
We have seven eras of aviation in the game, from the very beginning of civil aviation to the near future. You can play through the entire story or choose any era to start from:
300+ AIRPLANES, VEHICLES, AND OBJECTS
We made hundreds of models to represent each era:
REALISTIC SCALE
In Sky Haven, you will find a realistic scale of in-game objects. Big planes are actually big and require a lot of space. A long runway is actually long. Placing an additional runway can be a minigame in itself.
After constructing a new, long runway, it will be possible to land bigger planes that require more distance to slow down—bigger birds need a longer run. There are a lot of cases where size matters, and it is easy to see why.
VARIOUS KINDS OF PASSENGERS AND AIRLINES
There are three types of airlines in the game:
Low-cost passengers don’t require much in the airport, just some snacks and drinks, and they won’t be very upset if they don’t find any. Domestic airlines have more demanding passengers. Also, they have business and first-class passengers who want something more luxurious than just a booth snack.
Finally, international airlines have even more bizarre passengers, including VIPs. These passengers spend a lot, but they also want special treatment. They prefer to wait in fancy restaurants, boutiques, and business or first-class lounges for their flights.
FLIGHT & SERVICE MANAGEMENT
Scheduling a flight in a busy airport could be a game on its own. Ramp availability and runway capacity are the main limitations. In addition, an airline may require a specific time interval. If it is nighttime, the airport has to have all the necessary equipment.
What is easy at the beginning of a small airport could become immensely difficult later in a big airport. Even a single flight change in the schedule will affect dozens of other flights. Some airlines will not be happy about this. It might even reduce the airport’s rating. It is necessary to be careful with flight planning.
The idea to create an airport tycoon simulator was rooted in early 2015. We wanted to make a tycoon game with a queueing model and time progress. As all of us are aviation fans, very soon we realized this game would be an airport tycoon simulator.
We started from the field research. Thanks to Vilnius Airport, we have gone through all the elements of airplane ground handling. Later, experts from the airport gave us advice on functionality and processes.
Since that time, the game and we have come a long way. We showed the game test-demos at multiple expos, and each time, visitors’ feedback was super helpful for boosting Sky Haven’s development.
Now, we need your help in completing the final part. We believe that with your support, the game will become what we imagined at the very beginning.
Sky Haven has been in development since 2017, and we have come a long way with prototyping, features, bug fixes, and vertical slices. A first public playable demo was shown to the public at Gamescom 2018 (it was already possible to play the game about a year ago!). Since then, we have been spending time adding content and features, improving gameplay, and accelerating fun. And we’ve been fixing, fixing, and fixing bugs of course.
Currently, we are in a very strong stage of project readiness. It’s not the initial idea on paper or early alpha. We are on the way to releasing the beta soon. This means less unexpected twists, and that we are confident with our roadmap.
However, delays may occur in the game dev industry and some unseen challenges or unexpected obstacles can pop up, which is why we are still very conservative in our production time estimate. Ultimately, we are the biggest fans of Sky Haven, and we are eager to play it more than anybody else on the planet. Our goal is to deliver a great project to all fans of airplanes and airports. So, we promise to report about the project’s progress and honestly inform our fellow backers of possible delays. It is our strong intention to release the game, regardless of any setbacks.
