Risks and Rewards:
We’re experienced in manufacturing products at scale, but it’s our first time making a backpack. One of the risks is that the supply chain for a backpack is different from what we’re used to, and we are working with some new suppliers. If one of the suppliers, for example one of the zipper suppliers, faces a delay, our entire production will be delayed.
Quality is super important to us, we have a very rigorous quality insurance inspection, but we can never rule out all small problems. Should you encounter a quality issue, we will absolutely fix it for you, no questions asked.
Shipping is always a challenge, especially because Kickstarter shipments go out as individual packages, rather than as one big container shipment. This means that, if we have 1000 backers, there are 1000 chances for one of the packages to be delayed or lost during its long journey from the factory to your doorstep.
We estimate that we should be able to deliver the majority of packages before Christmas, but as Christmas is the busiest time of year for all shipping companies, we recommend that Santa has a back-up gift too, in case one of the delivery elves is late.
Sustainability
We want to give you a product that lasts, and that will not end up in landfill anytime soon. That’s why the bag has a largely modular design, to make repairs easy and DIY. If one of your parts happens to wear out, we’d be more than happy to ship you a spare, and if your bag has any other defaults, we’ll try our best to repair it, or tell you how you can repair it locally.
We did not cut any corners on selecting the best materials and suppliers, to ensure that this bag will hopefully be the last one you’ll need for years to come.
For the shipping, we are working on reducing the amount of plastic used in our shipping process, and will chose sustainable options where possible.
