Yes! We are trucking along to our next stretch goal after just hitting the $5000 mark! Thank you all so much! We are now able to record 6 of the songs for this album, but we want to record the FULL ALBUM, so we hope you’ll continue to share this campaign and help us until we reach the finish line!
I’m an emerging jazz artist, vocalist and songwriter based out of Chicago, IL. I am heading into the studio soon to record my next project called “The Assumption” and I’d like to invite you to help support this artistic adventure.
“The Assumption” is the culmination of new growth and new discoveries, while asking the question…. “What is trust”? It’s a question that I was writing about in the music that I was creating over the past few years and it’s a question of utmost importance in the world we live in currently.
“The Assumption” is also about our beliefs surrounding trust and love. Because trust is the result of relationships and in order for trust to exist, we need to learn to create good relationships again.
I truly appreciate your support in making this album come to life!
I started my performance career here in Chicago. I’m on a mission to break into the jazz music scene, record music and work with incredible musicians from around the city. Through a lot of hard work, perseverance, and community I’ve been blessed to do a lot of these things already. Experiencing this new growth in my career has given me a sign it’s time to extend my community further out into the world. I want this new music to lead to more performance opportunities around the country and overseas. I would be so excited to come and perform for you wherever you are!
One thing that’s meant a lot to me is the community support that I’ve received through the years; just simply the people who have believed in me and supported my gifts in making music. Community is at the core of so much of my life, and though at times I may have taken it for granted, I’ve grown to understand how vital it is in my growth as a creative person. At the core of my foundation, I’ve learned that my music is as much of a service to others as it is to me. And in that sense, I’ve felt more purpose in my creative process as I share what is unique to my imagination.
I’ve self produced and released two albums thus far, my debut album called “I’ll Take Romance” and my second album called “Messenger,” which was a tribute to Stevie Wonder (and something I consider to be some of his most socially conscious music).
Both albums were definitely a progression towards crafting a vision with my original music and I have been moving into EVEN MORE experimentation and development of self-expression with each recording.
I’m very excited about this journey to releasing my own original music as it has been an experience full of discovery and restoration. Much of my inspiration to write has come from a deeper understanding of the need for my voice as a jazz vocalist, a person of color, and a woman to fill a certain deficiency in our world, which I talk a little more about in the video link below.
Jazz for me was always a platform that represented true diversity with the rich tapestry of it’s history, and my generation of musicians grew up in a time when jazz was beginning a new phase of evolution; one that included more funk, soul, rock, and contemporary R&B.
Along with the rich gospel heritage that I was first cradled in as a child, jazz soon became the PERFECT home for me to express myself in; because jazz is far more than a genre, it’s a kaleidoscope to envision music through. Like a beautiful canvas that allows every kind of voice to blend it’s colors into becoming a new thing, this is why I love jazz so much.
It’s pretty simple how this project works— the higher we go, the more songs I can record. With your support, the album can be finished to perfection and released independently, making it available EVERYWHERE folks listen to music.
Thanks to the nature of Kickstarter, you can pre-order the album and I’ll include a few EXCLUSIVE incentives that will ONLY be available as part of this project.
That means no recordings, no new music, no t-shirts, not a thing. We can’t let that happen.

PLEASE NOTE –
I hope you can see why I am so fired up to embark on this new artistic voyage! Thank you all very much for your support, as it means the world to me. I’m looking forward to making this record and sharing it with all of you!
This project is certain to be a joy to create, but even more so, this will be music that you will have an important role in bringing into the light. Whether you’ve known me for years or you are new friends, or even if you just happened upon this Kickstarter project in a random search, I encourage you to earnestly consider supporting “The Assumption”. This campaign gives you a part in making music happen through supporting the process from the first moments spent in the recording studio to the packaging of the CD to the very pitches we’ll make to promote the music to festivals and venues where you can come and take part in the live experience of this album!
Your support will go towards funding things like:
ANY TYPE OF SUPPORT HELPS – not just monetarily. That support can be sending a prayer my way or sharing this project on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, (and anywhere you can to help spread the word).
I will be forever thankful for your generosity and support. Thanks so much!

Although we are well prepared and organized to make this project happen successfully, the challenge will be organizing all the moving pieces in a way that creates an efficient timeline. We anticipate having everything complete by April 2020, but are aware that this date may need to be movable.
