Hello! And welcome to our Hell! Help support this wholesome comic built upon a quirky demon family and their lives in this comedic Hell. Come for the smiles and colorful style, stay for the characters and their personal stories. Welcome to the family!
We are The Last Alley, an extremely small independent arts studio located across the States. We’ve been creating content under this name for over two years now, publishing our first pilot comic back in May of 2018.
Welcome to Our Hell is Alex Herndon’s and Leila Elmanfaa’s debut comic together. After a long time in development, we put this work together over the month of June. After tons of support from an amazing community, we are moving to self-publish this creative work!
Welcome to Our Hell takes place in a quirky, and rebellious underworld. A land without conventional restrictions. Chaos is kept in order by a very bureaucratic organization of demonic governors, senators, and of course, Lucifer. Balance is fickle, though, without the concepts of time. Multiple eras of human history have imprinted themselves in the everyday life of a demon. And this life is rather similar to our own, mind the falling limbs and shrieking souls of the damned.
Welcome to Our Hell’s primary focus is over the Amare family, a quirky group just living their lives. Karen is the strong and resilient mother that keeps track of the household and finds herself on mini adventures throughout her days. Phil, though quiet, is the supportive father that balances fun with the kids and family finances. Margarete, or better known as Marge to her friends, is the ever-evolving teen as she continues the search to find herself, while also destroying it as the drummer to her band. And last, but definitely not least, is the youngest of the Amare’s, Timothy!
Welcome to Our Hell is aimed for a mature audience of 18+ due to language and future events in the story. Our family that we’ve created is tangibly real in a fantasy world. Their hardships bring them together, even after clashing divides, because in the end they need each other.
We want this to be an ongoing series, with our current goal of 20 issues. We’ve already finished the first issue and can draft a new issue about every month. The story is ready to be told, and we are ready to deliver.
As of right now, we are a group of young adults with full time time jobs or commissioners trying to put as much time as afforded into this studio. Launching Welcome to Our Hell on kickstarter can put us on a track to finally push this studio into the right direction. We’ve been creating our works from out of pocket for the last two years, aside from our extremely generous community supporters and patrons.
Welcome to Our Hell’s issue one is completely finished! All we need is your help so that we can print the comic and get it into the hands of our amazing community and supporters! We are using Kickstarter so that we can stay independent, and that TLA can continue to be a studio by artists for artists. Being able to create what we want, with the freedom to express ourselves and the creativity that comes with that independence is critical to us.
If this Kickstarter succeeds, it will give us the necessary push to move forward, continuing a constant supply of new prints and producing future issues for this comic and new projects.
Putting Welcome To Our Hell on Kickstarter allows for people to not only get their hands on the comic first, but to also acquire limited content and art only provided through this platform. We are driven and guided by our community, therefore, if you believe there is something that we can provide through this platform that is not yet published, your feedback and criticism is greatly appreciated.
Welcome to Our Hell’s rewards are simple and to the point. We already have a finished product, so our goal is to gauge how many prints we will need to produce. There’s a few perks, however, that only you, a Kickstarter supporter will receive. This includes signed character cards per physical sale, a chance to grab limited prints, and to have yourself immortalized in the world of Welcome to Our Hell!
Support the studio and its team by purchasing our finished comic through a digital purchase. Once the comic releases, you will receive a code to grab your copy through our digital store front.
Support the studio and its team by buying our completed comic full of color and comedic fun. Your Kickstarter purchase will also ship with a small character print with a thanks from Leila, the comics artist.
Support the studio and its team by buying a physical copy of our completed comic and a limited print, that will only be sold through this platform. Get your hands on 20 pages of beautiful color and an 11×17 glossy, limited print of our original Karen concept.
Support the studio and its team by purchasing a physical copy of our finished comic, and have yourself digitally illustrated as a demon in this quirky Hell universe. As a bonus, you will find your demon self as a background character throughout the comic moving forward!
Currently, issue one of Welcome to Our Hell is completely finished. The biggest challenges are already out of the way. The only hill left to climb now is production and shipping out a product. We have shipped comics, posters and paintings before, so we will be fine there. We’re also well aware of our foreign friends and community members that will be interested in purchasing the comic, so we will tackle the steeper shipping for them!
We already know who we will be using for printing. There is always the chance, however, that things could go wrong or be delayed in the production stage. The TLA team is prepared and ready for that, and will ensure the comic and other arts get to you in a timely manner. Character cards and limited prints will be handled by a separate third party printer, so coordinating the products is a top priority for us.
