Mason Bay Wind Community Development Investment Group, LLC (“MBW-DIG”) has been established as an ‘umbrella’ to allow community members and other interested small-scale investors to participate as investors/part-owners of Mason Bay Wind.
Mason Bay Wind is a community-scale renewable energy development located in Jonesport, Maine, comprising three 3.0 MW wind energy converters (wind turbines). Mason Bay Wind is sited in a remote location over one mile away from the nearest residence, yet enjoys the strong wind resources of a seaside hill due to its close proximity to the Gulf of Maine, a body of water called the “Saudi Arabia of Wind” by former Maine Governor John Baldacci (D).
Mason Bay Wind is nearly finished with its development process, and is now accepting investments via MBW-DIG. Shares each cost $1000.
Wind energy facilities generate energy and Class I Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). Energy and RECs generated in Maine are transmitted and consumed across New England. therefore, all of New England has a unified market. Renewable Energy in New England is approximately a $3 billion industry per year that is growing roughly 2% per year. Within the greater Renewable Energy market, wind and solar are growing much faster than the market as a whole.
