Start-up company, miWi-Fi.net, LLC is a minority, Veteran and Native American owned installation and integration firm focusing on rural wireless broadband services, municipal Wi-Fi and Aruba Networks Bring Your Own Device (BYOB) deployments. We will operate as a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) building our own network and network back office for routing internet and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) traffic.
Company Background
Our service will provide high speed broadband to rural areas that are currently under served by the local incumbent providers. The service will include high speed internet access equivalent to DSL speeds or greater, voice over IP (VoIP) and video services in rural, economically disadvantaged areas.
In Madison County Alabama there are areas that do not have the option of high speed internet access due to the population, terrain features and cost of network deployment. It is our goal to use a combination of WiMAX (802.16d/e-2004) and a Wi-Fi delivery solution to provide these services as the cost of network deployment is low and it will cover a large geographic area with the desired broadband coverage.
Some residents and businesses are currently using dial up access and are paying a high price for T1 services from Local Exchange Carriers (LEC’s) and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC’s).
The delivery of our service is what will differentiate us from the competition and gives us a competitive edge. Our rollout costs are lower and provide a quicker ROI to our investors.
We provide a low cost high speed internet connection for our end users. Speeds range from 500kbs/s to 50mbs/s defendant on the service level required. Cost ranges from $14.95 to $79.95 this to depends on the connection speed selected by our customers.
Alongside the WISP we will deploy Wi-Fi “smart-spots”. Unlike a Wi-Fi hotspot that only provide connectivity to the internet, the “smart-spots” will be intuitive to the area it is deployed in. The smart-spot will bring up a skin that has local businesses, within a specified radius, listed with any special offers for foot traffic directed to the business by the smart-spot. Users will be able to order that cup of coffee or make a reservation plus get an extra discount offered only to them. We want to make the internet connection as smart as the phone.
We have partnered with Aruba Networks as a deployment partner for their BYOD solution. Our goal is to contract with government agencies, education and industry to deploy campus and in building wireless networks to allow them to offer out of band Wi-Fi connectivity for employees and students.
