John began his careerwith the international division of Mobil Oil Corporation, with roles in finance, corporate planning and marketing/supply planning. He subsequently worked on Wall Street in the institutional sales departments of Kidder, Peabody & Company and Oppenheimer & Company.. John spent years as an independent oil operator and investor, including the founding and management of companies involved in oil and gas exploration and development, crude oil and products trading, refining and marketing, natural gas gathering and processing, and electric utility load management.
In 1988, John formed Wood Roberts, Inc. to engage in the provision of corporate financial advice to the petroleum industry, focusing on initiating and advising on the acquisition activities of U.S. independents. He has also had experience as a venture capitalist in the broadcast industry.
John holds a B.S.E. from Princeton University and an M.B.A. (with honors) from Northwestern University..
John’s first patent was issued in 1984 for a Video device called the “Channelizer”.
Then John founded several companies involved in developing and publishing client server software. He invented LAN based Group Scheduling in 1988 which he integrated into his eMail Client that won “PC Magazine eMail product of the year” in 1988 & 1989 and also “Best in Class” in Infoworld for two years running as well. He garnered an industry title “The Granddaddy of Groupware” and in 1991 he received the “Man of the Year” award from the Local Area Network Associatio..
Since 2001 John has built and managed over 500+ Linux servers as the lead SysAdmin specializing in server security. Between 2011 and 2017 John personally developed and published over 40 custom 3D Linux Debian operating systems called Robolinux. In 2013 John invented “Stealth VM” software and “C: Drive to VM” which work on hundreds of Deb & RPM Linux based Operating Systems. In 2015 John invented RoboCyberWall.
