We are an Inuit owned Arctic cruise/ mapping company located in the middle of the Northwest Passage. While escorting cruise and other ships we will be processing high-resolution, non-invasive multi-beam scans to produce accurate charts of the Arctic.
Currently only 4% of the Arctic Ocean has been mapped accurately according to the Canadian Hydro-graphic Service. The lack of accurate charts has led to ships grounding including Canadian Coast Guard , luckily there have been no appreciable oil spills or loss of life so far. Traditional “corridors” have been used for navigation meaning that we didn’t hit anything last time, let’s try it again. Due to the earlier retreat and later formation of ice throughout the Arctic Ocean there are evermore ships transiting the Passage.
We live in Resolute Bay and know firsthand the hardship created by the price gouging which takes place Nunavut wide. The gouging starts with the lack of wholesale pricing to the individual stores, the middle-men’s cut followed on by the extremely high cargo rates. For instance: a can of Coke can sell for as much as $7.38 while our purchase price is .11 cents per can in Halifax. If we multiplied our profit by 10 fold it would only cost $1.10 per can. Freight rates are .70 cents per pound while our rates are 40 cents per pound. If you add the freight to our price you get $1.50 per can delivered. Our low overhead allows us to make an exorbitant profit while offering objects at a fraction of the price now being charged. The consumer is the ultimate winner and we profit also. It is definitely a win/win. Food Bank purchases at wholesale and with zero delivery charge we can provide for many more people in need.
We wish to pass on our considerable experience in both the marine and survey sectors. There are accommodations aboard ship to carry a select few adventure minded passengers who wish to view the Arctic aboard the only Inuit owned survey ship in the Arctic. Deluxe, en-suite accommodations along with an executive chef will ensure your stay aboard will be both informative and fulfilling. Dive the Northwest Passage as very few people have accomplished. We offer certificates to those who participate.
We are the only Inuit owned company operating a survey ship in the Arctic Ocean. “Polar Surveyor” is a medium classed icebreaker and serves as a very stable platform from which to dive the Northwest Passage. The ship has a large enough cargo capacity for our requirements yet has low fuel consumption.
