VIMANA to exhibit prototype of first VTOL AAV for urban air mobility market
DAVOS, Switzerland, January 23, 2018 — VIMANA Global, a startup fusing autonomous aerospace design with blockchain technology, is exhibiting its first VTOL (vertical take-off and landing)
autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV) at the World Economic Forum annual meeting, in Davos. VIMANA is the only startup that seeks to enable the Blockchain Airspace market by launching a Smart City-specific, integrated, turnkey urban air mobility (UAM) solution.
“VIMANA Global is solving a key UAM challenge, that of extending the blockchain into the air, and delivering the technology that would enable unmanned flights to launch and fly safely in any national airspace,” says Evgeni Borisov, founder and CEO, VIMANA.
The prototype is on display, January 23-27 at the VIMANA Terrace at the Seehof Hotel. There will be
a gala opening hosted by VIMANA on the terrace, January 23 from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M.
Media representatives are invited to attend the opening.
“VIMANA is uniquely positioned to make a major Urban Air Mobility impact by solving the looming traffic congestion infrastructure crisis,” says VIMANA advisory board member Max Smetannikov. “VIMANA is putting smart cities into the driver’s seat with its blockchain-based air traffic control network that puts into operation a blockchain standard to be used with third party AAVs and UAVs.”
VIMANA Global’s technological platform fuses aerospace design with blockchain technology. A team of aerospace engineers led by Evgeni Borisov is currently developing one- and four-seater VTOL AAVs, which will be used for transporting passengers. VIMANA is destined to become the backbone of the first Smart City Blockchain Airspace network that would host other AAVs, UAVs and airspace-specific blockchain applications.
VIMANA Global closed angel financing last year and has on its executive team and advisory boards a cross-section of leaders and entrepreneurs in aerospace, blockchain and cryptocurrency. These include board chairman Mark Iwanowski (Trident Capital, Oracle CIO); founder Evgeni Borisov (Toshiba, Phillips), and NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria. Its global team of leaders in these technical disciplines will drive VIMANA Global from early stage development to monetization and deployment.
