Re-defining Pet Meals
I designed Critter Bowls after searching for a sectioned bowl for animal cages. My search turned up zero products so I decided to develop my own. I spent the better part of a year designing and prototyping the Critter Bowl with the help of 3D-printing. I then tested my designs with my marmoset breeding colony until I found the perfect size, shape and depth that was also easy to clean.
Critter Bowl is the world’s first sectioned, cage-attachable pet bowl made of BPA-free and UV-resistant plastic. Presently Critter Bowl is nothing more than a prototype at my marmoset monkey breeding facility in South Florida, but with your help we can bring it to life for pet owners world-wide!
The Benefits of a Sectioned Bowl
With Critter Bowls my monkeys no longer make a mess of their food. Instead they eat one section at a time, starting with their favorites and moving on to their next when its gone. They waste far less food as a result which saves money. Because the sections keep dry and wet food separate their food also stays fresher longer. The rounded edges and cupped shape of the bowl also make clean-up easy.
One Size Fits Most
Critter Bowl is perfect for any pet that enjoys a varied diet, whether monkeys, lemurs, kinkajous, raccoons, sugar gliders, tamarins or parrots (to name a few). Critter Bowl was designed, prototyped, and engineered in the USA. It measures just 7.4″ wide and 1.7″ deep, making it the perfect size for a wide variety of critters.
Why We Need You!
I am doing this campaign to raise enough money to develop plastic-injection moulds to mass-produce the Critter Bowl for pet-lovers like you. Two separate moulds will need to be created, one for the bowl itself and the other for the holding arm with cage-attaching nut. The cost to develop the moulds alone is $3500. If you like the concept of the Critter Bowl and would like to see one in your home or animal facility, please support our campaign to help us bring Critter Bowls to life :)
Background/Challenges
Over the past decade I have created several products using plastic-injection moulds. This is the same process that will be used for creating the Critter Bowl and cage attachment. The process is rather simple and leaves little room for complications or challenges during production.
Current Stage of Development
The design for the Critter Bowl is already complete. Prototypes have been 3D printed and used at my facility for the better part of the year, and I am now ready to move forward with production.
Once the project is funded, it will take approximately 45 days for the moulds to be completed. It will then take another 2 weeks for samples to be made, shipped and received in all 6 colors. If any revisions are required it will take approximately 3-4 more weeks to revise the mould and receive new samples. Normally only one revision (if any) is needed. After the samples are approved (2-6 weeks after the initial 45 day mold creation period) production begins.
Production will take up to 3 weeks depending on how many other projects are in queue at the manufacturing facility. The products will then ship via 3-day air to our location in South Florida, where they will be packaged and shipped to all of our backers. The estimated ship date is April, 2017.
