Marvel’s first female-led superhero movie
At the very end of Avengers: Infinity War, Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury sent out a desperate message, which we see in a fleeting image of Captain Marvel’s iconic symbol. Clearly, the character is going to play a role in Avengers 4, but before that film hits next summer, she’s going to get her own standalone film, Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel will be the first female-led superhero film in the franchise, and it’s directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Set in the 1990s, it’ll star Brie Larson as the film’s main character, but it won’t be an origin story. She’ll already have her powers, and it seems that she’ll be part of a team called Starforce, fighting against a classic Marvel villain, the Skrull.
Captain Marvel is slated to hit theaters on March 8th, 2019. Follow along for all of the news, trailers, and commentary for the film.
