DUBAI,Feb 16 (WAM) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Education has signed, during the first day of the National Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTI) Festival, two agreements, the first with the General Authority for Sports (GAS) and the second with the US, company Udacity, with the aim of strengthening their co-operation and advancing the country’s school environment.
The first agreement was signed by Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, and Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Chairman of GAS, with the attendance of several academic leaders.
The agreement aims to promote the co-ordination and co-operation between the ministry and the authority, to develop their legislative structures and promote sports in UAE schools.
According to the agreement, both parties will work to establish the structure of school sports and select and train talented athletes and improve their talents, as well as involve those with disabilities into sporting programmes, plan their involvement, support those who are talented, and provide a social environment to encourage participation in sporting activities and establish sports as a lifestyle.
The second agreement aims to promote joint co-operation between both sides, to advance technological education in the country by benefiting from Udacity’s expertise.
The agreement stipulates that the ministry will provide 175 scholarships for students to join Udacity’s programme and provide the necessary requirements, as well as to support and enable them to benefit from the company’s training programmes. (WAM) (END/2018)
