Happiness is a new skill learned. In Third Grade, there are many new skills to be learned, and like any new skill, you need the right tools to produce a quality product.
My hope is that when my students have a project to work on, that they will, along with their imagination, have the tools necessary to create it.
With a population of 98% free lunch, many of my students don’t have the essentials. Having a new pencil with an eraser is big deal; I see their intrinsic motivation begin! Crayons, markers, pencils, erasers and a folder to keep their work organized are just some of the basics every student should have to take on the very important work of a third grader.

Math and science are interesting, challenging subjects for a third grader. Drawings and experiments, discovery and questioning are all a very important piece of the child’s work at school. Having the tools to do this work is essential to their success. The children I teach are beautiful, strong and, I know, excited about their new year at school. I hope to make their year one of happiness and success.
The supplies that I have chosen — pencils, erasers, markers, glue and folders — will assist students with the math and science projects throughout the year. The science supplies will give them information and hands on experience with the forces of nature.
All the items that I very carefully picked out will give the students in my class the essentials they will need to complete tasks with enthusiasm and perseverance.
When someone believes in you and invests in you, you start to believe you can and will succeed! These tools of their trade will make a difference in every task this year.
