Studies show that children who have an active experience and meaningful engagement with sound through music are more likely to excel in school and pursue a college education. Music education programs help children attain critical life skills like discipline, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and leadership. The arts are a crucial part of any child’s intellectual development, and they need our continual support.
DID YOU KNOW:
- People who played musical instruments as children showed more robust brainstem responses to sound than did non-musicians.
- Music spurs emotional and behavioral growth in children.
- “A 10 year study involving 25,000 students show that music-making improves test scores in standardized tests, as well as in reading proficiency exams.”
- A study has found that music lessons for kids make their minds sharper when they grow older.”
