I am an elementary school teacher who teaches 28 active, energetic third graders who range in their academic abilities. All of my students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. A majority of my students are English Language Learners, coming from homes that speak a language other than English. Families want more than anything to see their children succeed, but they often lack resources.
My students are hardworking and determined–more than half do not read at grade-level but that does not stop them from trying their best and persevering!
I am very proud of their accomplishments and dedication to education at such a young age.
My students and I would benefit from these supplies greatly! Individual mailboxes will give my students a safe place to keep their homework and important papers until the end of the day, since they will no longer have desks but tables. It also increases student responsibility as it is not “out of sight, out of mind” anymore. The organizer will hold our work for the week, so if a student leaves early or is absent, they can easily make it up. The small shelf is for the library, to hold our library cards and a few plush friends from their favorite books–who would’ve love to read “Llama Llama Misses Mama” to Baby Llama sitting in your lap?
We all know that organization leads to success–and I want my students to be as successful as possible!
With your help, we can achieve that goal together!
