I greet each child at the door every morning with a twirl or fist bump. They know that I believe in them and I strive for each one of them to believe in each other and in themselves. We work to hold each other accountable and we learn from each other’s uniqueness’ and gifts. Each day is a new beginning and we end each day with celebrations of what we have accomplished.
Struggles are not who we are, rather what we go through that makes us stronger.
I teach at a Title I School where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Coming from economically disadvantage families my little ones have many obstacles to overcome both in and out of the school setting. Despite these struggles they come everyday with enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. They are strong and proud and I am so blessed to be a part of their journey. They help each other and they help me to be the best that we can be.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to teach and learn with these amazing children.
My objective for this project is to integrate technology into my classroom in a variety of areas that will provide meaningful learning experiences for my students.
Students will utilize four Literacy stations using technology to help with comprehension, fluency, and manipulation of text.
Each of the four stations will use one transmitter/receiver and two headsets which will enable two students to work together at the same time. These stations are the computer station, iPad station, CD station and the Recording station. Each station will provide different opportunities to listen, write, and talk about text with a partner.
The CD player and Book with CD will be used in the Read along station. This will provide students with practice on the basic skills needed for reading, and will improve fluency.
My classroom computer will also be used for not only my literacy stations but math, science and social studies.
In the Recording Center the students may us tape recordings I have created with the books in our class library. The students will also practice reading while recording themselves to give them confidence and to help with fluency. I will create student lessons on tapes that the partners will follow. This will enable me to provide differentiation according to the needs of my students.
The final station will utilize the iPad. The visual will provide a different dimension and will help with them connect to text and vocabulary. This will also be used with iStation for those who have trouble manipulating the mouse on the computer.
Having the ability to utilize different technology in different ways will allow me to accommodate each child’s individual needs and meet them where they are.
