Project Description
FOGWOOD & FIG was started by Diana Bezanski.
Fogwood & Fig is an extension of our plant based culinary adventure that has unfolded over the last 5 years – in our lives, home, and especially in our kitchen. It’s the food that’s given us comfort and energy all year long, and now we get to share that with you every day. It’s house crafted feel good food!
Our menu will offer a variety of delectable sandwiches, messy good burgers, whole meal bowls, salads and specials that change with the season. Gluten free options are abound and plenty so no one is left out. Weekend brunch will boast specials not offered during the week such as our spelt warm spiced pancakes and Spanish scramble. Expect food that is bright, fresh, thoughtful – wonderfully good in a casual rustic setting, with natural light, calming whites and a cozy vibe.
Always with gratitude!

We have developed relationships with local farmers, and wherever possible, when in season, our produce will be locally sourced. We want the name FOGWOOD & FIG to evoke both our local community and a sustainable lifestyle.
We pay great attention to recipes, ingredients, and presentation, as well as taste. We believe this will create a harmonious combination, one that adds up to an “experience”.
brunch items include: house-made granola w nut milk & fresh fruit (top L); quinoa in a cup w chocolate cream (top C); avocado mash on crisp toast w smoked paprika (bottom C); hummus toast w sliced tomato & house pickled onions.
At Farmer’s Markets, our burgers are always among our most popular items. If you are a burger-lover you’ll enjoy ours.
“They did it again. Fogwood & Fig came up with a new veggie burger. I wish I hadn’t agreed to share it. The Freida Casa Burger with Mole Sauce. I mean come on. It came with Mexican street corn, avocado and pickled onion. If I have to ever pick my last meal… this will be it!” – JM; Bklyn,NY
Our loaded vegan burgers will please even the most stubborn carnivore. We’ll feature satisfying main-course salads, abundance bowls, sandwiches, home-made granola – perfect with our house-made nut milks, and some rotating specials.
Diana: “Fogwood & Fig will be casual and comfortable. We’ll feature seasonal soups and stews so there’s changing fare for those that crave something new. We’ll always feature a choice of our regular savory selections, for those inclined to stay with their favorites. And I expect to change things up on the weekends, with Saturday and Sunday specials.”
Seasonal Soups and Stews
Our favorite soup on cold days. Red lentil and poblano with avocado mash and fresh herbs!
About the Cafe
We found an ideal location in a historic building on a charming street.
Fogwood & Fig cafe will boast rustic charm, be modest and inviting, with natural light, a cozy and airy feel set amid a décor of calming whites.
The seating capacity indoors is approx. 20, and there will be a small selection of tables outdoors during the warmer months surrounded by fresh flowers and plants. We contemplate serving a late morning breakfast, lunch and early dinner with brunch on weekends.
Our location under works! Says Diana: “I hope people coming to Fogwood & Fig see it as more than a nourishing meal. I am hoping they see it as an experience – a pleasant one of course. I want the ambience to be part of that experience.”
About the Location
Port Jervis, NY is a small historic city but feels like a small town. It’s located just outside our home-town of the equally historic and charming Milford, PA. It also borders Montague, NJ and is only 75 minutes north west of NYC.
We are surrounded by a variety of outdoor activity that includes white water rafting on the Delaware river and camping. There are stunning waterfall parks and trail walks, which makes this area especially wonderful for leisure activity, and our café the perfect destination stop for good food.
We are happy to have secured our location for Fogwood & Fig in a most up and coming section of Port Jervis. The street our café is located on, has lovely antique stores, a coffee house with fresh baked pastry that also combines as a store of stylish home décor, and more antiques just across the street. A hip craft brewery is opening later this year and there is a wonderful art gallery filled with beautiful work that is a must stop .
We are thrilled to be part of this quaint location.
US 6, US Route 209, NYS Route 42, and NYS Route 97 all pass through Port Jervis, and Interstate 84 passes just to the South.
About Diana
Originally from central coast California, NYC, and now residing in Milford, PA, with Jeff and our dog Alice, country living has taught me so very much. It’s about having appreciation, gratitude, and simply slowing down. It has helped me become connected to the earth. And since moving out here full time, my lifestyle and diet have become more sustainable than ever. Because I went vegan during this transition of settling down, I am more aware and conscientious about the food that I eat than ever before. I’ve developed relationships with local farmers, learned about gardening from volunteering at a friend’s local animal sanctuary, and I’ve begun composting in my very own backyard. In the beginning, winters were a struggle for me, but now I’ve learned to embrace them, as I do with all of the seasons. A tree with green leaves is now just as pretty as a naked winter tree. A fresh fig with homemade granola and cashew milk in the summer has become just as enjoyable as a warm spiced curry stew on a cold winter day. eat well . be happy

Meet the Team
Diana and Jeff at their local farmer’s market serving up vegan burgers
Diana and Jeff met 20 years ago at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. After a few years spent in NYC, they purchased a home in Milford, PA to be surrounded by quiet nature and a slower paced lifestyle. Living in the country helped inspire Diana to begin cooking a wide range of foods that celebrated vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds and so on. Her kitchen became a daily creative sanctuary. Jeff loved it. They discussed sharing these wonderful meals with others which led to the local markets, pop ups and now … the café
Jeff provides the perfect counterbalance to Diana. Each is an expert photographer. (Jeff had the good fortune of working many years with iconic fashion photographer Bruce Weber.) Whereas Diana’s primary focus is on creation and food artisanship, Jeff is a most talented craftsman, with a knack for fixing just about anything that requires repair. He also has 15 years of diverse experience in the restaurant industry – from bartender to manager. While Diana will live in the Fogwood & Fig kitchen, Jeff will operate part time the “front of house.”
