Mezumenet, the University of Maryland’s only all-female Jewish a cappella group, is recording our third ever album, and we need YOUR help! Founded in December 2008 by four young women who studied and sang together in Israel, Mezumenet brings an eclectic mix of music to the Maryland community and to the surrounding areas. Mezumenet’s repertoire ranges from traditional Jewish melodies to current Israeli pop and contemporary radio tunes, all rounded out by our unique Mezumenet parodies, such as “Not About That Treif,” “I’m Tznius and I Know It,” and “That’s What Makes a Jewish Girl.”
Our first album, Mezmerized, was a hit! It features our current alumnae song: Rabbi’s Son, which is a parody of Fountain of Wayne’s Stacy’s Mom.

Just two years later, we released our next album, and everyone we know agrees that it was straight up fire. Mezzin’ Around features two original Jewish parodies, as well as the pop hit Cough Syrup—a Mez favorite.

Now almost nine years old, Mezumenet has released two CDs (Mezmerized and Mezzin’ Around) and has regularly participated in Kol HaOlam, the only national Jewish a cappella competition.

But we need YOUR help to keep our forward momentum going! Mezumenet wants to create an album for all ten of the new songs we’ve arranged and performed since our last CD, plus one never-heard-before parody. As an a cappella group, making our music into a physical album is the best way for us to quantify our accomplishments and deliver a product to the world. We are so proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and we want to share our new music with you!

So why are we fundraising? We rely entirely on the generosity of our friends, family, and fans to raise the funds for us to record and produce CD’s. The sixty hours we’ll spend recording will alone cost us at least $8000, on top of which we have to pay for iTunes/Spotify licensing, mastering, and of course the physical production of the CD’s! So help us translate our hard work into our newest, best-ever, aMEZing CD for you to enjoy, and donate to our page!
