Five guardians protect the multiverse against the chaos that lurks outside the boundaries of reality. There’s only one problem: they hate each other.

“The Grid.

A mystical nexus, a crossroads connecting all times, all realities. Along the ley lines of the Grid, the multiverse clusters.

To move along the Grid is to move from one reality to the next. To harness the power of the Grid is to harness the awesome might of creation.

Five touchstone realities exist at focal points along the Grid. From each of these realities, a Warlock is chosen to act as one of five Guardians.

Savasthar, a shapeshifting dragon-like being.

Doomidor, a warlord from the Dark Ages.

Argon, an advanced cybernetic organism from a techno-hell.

Tanith, an ageless sorceress.

Zania, a power-mad, machine gun necromancer.

Together, the Warlocks protect the Grid, thereby protecting all of space and time. They are the last line of defense against the awful forces of chaos that lurk in the darkness outside the Grid.

There’s only one problem.

They hate each other.”

Originally created by Gordon Derry and Denis Beauvais, Warlock 5 was published by Barry Blair, a Canadian comic book publisher, artist and writer, known for launching Aircel Comics in the 1980s. A fierce advocate for innovation in the themes, genres, and types of illustrations, Blair helped to bring titles to life that broke the narrative and graphic boundaries at the time — including Warlock 5.

The new Warlock 5 Kickstarter seeks to fund this continuation of the Aircel Comics classic fantasy masterpiece. This 2017 reboot is written by CULLEN BUNN and JIMMY JOHNSTON, illustrated by JEFFREY EDWARDS with colors by ANDY POOLE, letters by ED DUKESHIRE, and designs by EDWARD LAVALLEE and SHAWN T. KING.

This saga of rivalry, betrayal, magic, dragons, and killer robots is aiming for a 60-page full-color (hard cover) original graphic novel; however, we need your help getting there!

WHAT’S DONE?

We’ve COMPLETED the first 18 pages and will be finished with the first 24 by the end of this Kickstarter campaign. We’re seeking funding for the creative efforts to create pages 25–60. A successful Kickstarter allows us to block out the time we need for our creators to keep working on this project and for us to print the books!

With that said, we’re aiming to have the complete 60-page graphic novel finished by NOVEMBER. Our hope is to have books printed and shipped to everybody in DECEMBER and JANUARY. Warlock 5 Page 01 Warlock 5 Page 01

THE WORDS

Cullen Bunn
He writes the sassiest “Merc with a Mouth,” the unstoppable and morbidly funny DEADPOOL as well as UNCANNY X-MEN and STAR WARS: DARTH MAUL. Bunn has worked with Marvel and DC, and has created several best-selling creator-owned series such as THE DAMNED and THE SIXTH GUN (Oni Press) and HARROW COUNTY (Dark Horse).

Jimmy Johnston
Johnston is a regular co-writer with Cullen, and their projects together include IDW’s popular MICRONAUTS series.

THE ART

Jeffrey Edwards (Pencils & Inks)
Edwards’ work for BOOM! and IDW has been described as hyper-detailed: his maze of lines and tiny shadows creates intricate scenes.

Andy Poole (Colorist)
Poole is a British artist who enjoys playing with conventions when it comes to coloring comics. His work goes from short comics like KING AND NO KING published by Image Comics to the “Deadly Skies” installation at the Canadian War Museum.

Ed Dukeshire (Letters)
Ed is a Harvey-nominated letterer working in the biz since 2001. He has lettered over a thousand comics from mainstream to creator-owned favorites including HULK, MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS, and SHADOWHAWK for publishers like Marvel, BOOM! Studios, Image and DC Comics.

Edward Lavallee (Design)
Having published through Archaia Studios Press and also written numerous independent works, Lavallee is best known for his latest comic POP STAR ASSASSIN. Lavallee is a seasoned graphic designer and comic book letterer having worked on PARADIGM (Haun/Cashel) and EXPATRIATE (Moore/Latour) for Image Comics.

Shawn T. King (Design)
Shawn is an award-winning graphic designer from Mississippi. He hates the sun and spends his time in his cluttered home creating bookish things for Ragnarok, Vault Books, Mechanical Muse, and various independent authors.

PUBLISHER

Ragnarok Publications was established in 2013 by Joe Martin and Tim Marquitz and, after putting out several genre fiction publications, the publisher merged with Jeremy Mohler and Outland Entertainment in 2017, adding comics and games to its ever-growing library.

Our goal of $15,000 is to cover the expenses of paying the creative team and printing the book. This will help speed up production and get the book out to you! Any overage will go to creating more comics, as we have a whole array of stuff. This page https://www.ragnarokpub.com/comics just scratches the surface of our projects.

As a way of thanking YOU for your help, we have an array of rewards to fit any budget, including our exclusive, Kickstarter-only 5″ x 7″ print. You won’t see these submitted for market distribution or handed out at cons. They’ll be printed for Kickstarter Backers Only. You can also get in on our digital editions from the Barry Blair Library!

So, we hope you will support Warlock 5 and help us spread the word! Thank you!

Risks and challenges

We’re deep into volume one and have a whole team dedicated to bringing this story to life. Like any creative project, unforeseen complications may arise—and our team, like any other group of people, may encounter life situations that make it difficult to stay on schedule. However, we are committed to seeing this project through, and a good chunk is finished with the rest in production at this very moment.
