Orbitil provides a suite of tools to help business leaders make better strategic and tactical decisions based on hard data. It delivers subscription-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) running on their Crystal Orb (xOrb) platform suite. They have launched: (1) Project Orb for project management offices and heads of departments (2) Resource Orblet for Team and Group Leaders and (3) Test Orb for test management functions. They are currently developing a new one: Product Orb for product management teams and Business Unit managers
Project Orb solves a business’ inability to manage & visualise vast amounts of information, and predict what will happen under different scenarios. A problem magnified for businesses where capex is higher (eg. Semiconductors) and outlays are larger. It allows the consequences of issues and decisions to be evaluated so the optimum action can be taken. Thus Project Orb optimizes the P&L through its holistic view of the business, from overlaying market windows onto a product development lifecycle to permitting resource owners to efficiently manage their team’s project deployments.
Product Orb brings revenue and valuation analysis to a new level to allow users to comprehend business options.
Orbitil uses a subscription-based SaaS recurring revenue model. The xOrb Suite offers a number of services (Project, Product, Resource, Test etc), most with their own tiers (Visual, Analytic, Premium and Enterprise). Each forms a recurring revenue stream. Monthly subscriptions are paid annually upfront. A private cloud solution is available for larger corporates. Subscriptions tend to grow once the first few are used in a business, both locally and interest from other offices. As new services are made available, there are significant cross-sell opportunity for the same organisation to adopt them for other departments.
The exit strategy is primarily to IPO on AIM and we’re open to a trade sale to one of the top 6 PPM vendors (Oracle, HP, IBM, Planview, CA Technologies, Microsoft), which will be explored actively from year 4 with a mature suite in place and established customer traction.
Following the forecast sales in year 1 and the first half of year 2, a further funding Series A round of £3m-4m will be required. Prior to the trade sale, Orbitil will operate as a sustainable business, targeting £70m cumulative sales from over 460 customers worldwide.
Built on our current projections and using a conservative multiple of 3 x annual revenues, this would give a valuation in excess of £100m in year 5
