The Pantanal Partnership is a University of Michigan student organization focused on education, healthcare, and sustainable technologies in the Brazilian Pantanal. The Pantanal region of Brazil is one of the world’s largest freshwater wetlands and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The people of the Pantanal are critical to the environmental conservation of the area, but unfortunately, community members of these often isolated areas move to cities in search of improved education, jobs, and healthcare. One of the goals of the Pantanal Partnership this summer is to ensure these families can continue to live along the river, by offering safe, sustainable lighting to many families along the Cuiaba River, most of whom live without any electricity.
Our club has applied for many grants this year and done a lot of fundraising, but we are still $2000 short of the funds we need to travel this summer to implement our project. We would appreciate any and all donations or you sharing this page to help us out. Thank you and Go Blue!
We will be having a fundraiser at Piada on Wednesday, 4/19 on S. State St! Along with this, on Thursday and Friday (4/20 and 4/21) we will be having a bake sale in Mason Hall in front of the posting wall. If you are unable to help us in any of these ways, please share this post! This project is extremely important in improving the education of students in the Pantanal, and if we do not get funds the trip will be cancelled. Any donation amount is appreciated!
