Sandra, 29, attended school until the third grade. She is married with two children.
In spite of hardships, Sandra has worked since she was ten years old. She works in agriculture, since her father would take her out to the fields where she learned to grow corn, maiz, sesame, chiles etc.
Later she married, and now has even more reason to work to help her husband cover their household expenses. Their parcel of land is 1.5 kilometers from their house; she rides a bicycle to get there. Her day begins at 4:30 AM when she prepares breakfast for her family and then goes out to work.
She was supported with a Kiva loan before, and was able to pay it off on time. She will use this new loan to buy a calf and fertilizers and pesticides for a hectare of chili peppers.
Her dreams are that her children will get an education, to build her own house, and have a business selling clothing.
