Fresa Roja is made up of 3 enterprising women who belong to the Miskita ethnic group from the city of Bilwi, Puerto Cabezas municipality. They organized themselves 2 years ago with the desire to be able to access financing with a solidarity guarantee to improve their quality of life and that of their loved ones.
Dora Rosario is the coordinator of the group, she is a smiling woman, 54 years old, married with 3 university-aged children. With the goal of having her own source of income and contributing to the household expenses and her children’s education, she remembers with great enthusiasm that she began selling fruits and vegetables as a street vendor with the economic support of her husband. Thanks to the loans granted by Pana Pana and financed by Kiva, they have allowed her to establish a small store in the outdoor walkway of her stilt house made of wood. With the loan, she will purchase basic grains and snacks. She dreams of having a prosperous business.
