Fungai wants to buy weaves, braids, chemicals, and African print material, and to make minor renovations to her salon. She wants to keep on moving forward in her business, growing it so that it can generate more income for her. She is 35 years old, single, and a mother of two children, who are in primary school.
She operates a hairdressing salon and tailoring business, in Chitungwiza. She has a roadside structure that is a hive of activity. Clients keep her busy – some needing to be beautified by her talented hands, while others will be admiring her products. Another thing that attracts people to her business is her friendly nature.
Fungai is a member of Letombo group. The group’s name was borrowed from the popular buses that used to ferry people from Chitungwiza to Harare. The members of the group all stay in the same neighbourhood of Chitungwiza. They have known each other since their high school days, and they have a strong bond that has stood the test of time.
The group is now in its third loan cycle. They repaid well their previous loans, which they put to good use and boosted their businesses.
