Enthusiasm, confidence and perseverance led Margret to practicing mixed farming and poultry seventeen years ago. As the key breadwinner of her family, Margret farms a small parcel of land in Kapsowar, in the Great Rift Valley region of Kenya. Margret decided to start mixed farming with the expectation of giving her family a better quality of life. Through her profits, she has managed to take care of her family’s needs and to give her children a good education.
Margret’s desire to achieve is admirable because, despite her age and the hurdles she has had to pass through, she still holds her head high and hasn’t given up achieving her objectives.
Margret is seeking a loan to buy seeds and start horticulture farming on her farm. She wants to reap more profits by taking advantage of her area’s favourable weather patterns, the good road network in her village, good soil, and a ready market for horticulture products.
Juhudi Kilimo is partnering with Kiva to help hardworking women like Margret make their farming dreams come to reality through training and loan financing.
