S2 Medtech has developed a multi-tube blood draw unit/device that can perform three blood draws at the same time. Not only does this save time, but it also results in less pain and discomfort for the patient. Doctors and nurses who perform multiple blood draws every day agree that this is a better way to draw a patient’s blood.
The procedure for drawing blood is standard. The nurse or phlebotomist inserts a needle into a patient’s vein and then fills one tube at a time. There are several problems with this method.
After watching his brother-in-law undergo multiple blood draws for several surgeries, Robert (Bob) Dillard decided that there had to be a better way to perform blood draws.
Additionally, the multi-tube blood draw unit makes the blood draw experience much more bearable for patients. Instead of potentially poking patients multiple times to get more than one blood sample, the multi-tube blood draw unit allows nurses and phlebotomists to draw up to three tubes of blood at the same time. This results in less time, pain, and discomfort for the patient, and it is especially valuable for patients who have a phobia of needles.
S2 Medtech has consulted with many doctors and nurses, and they all agree that the multi-tube blood draw device is a newer and better way to perform blood draws, which occurs approximately 200,000 times a day in the United States.
The multi-tube blood draw device from S2 Medtech is made from pharmaceutical grade plastic, and it offers a user-friendly and efficient design. In a few steps, nurses and phlebotomists can perform three blood draws at a time.
1. Place multiple evacuated blood collection tubes, each positioned within an evacuated blood collection tube holder, into respective couplers on a rearward portion of a multiport blood collection device.
2. Couple a connector of a winged infusion set to an adapter on a forward portion of the multiport blood collection device.
3. Insert hypodermic needle of the winged infusion set into a vein from which blood is to be drawn.
4. Push the evacuated blood collection tubes forward into their holders to begin drawing blood into the tubes simultaneously.
5. Once the tubes are filled, remove the hypodermic needle from the vein.
6. Remove the evacuated blood collection tubes from the multiport blood collection device.
7. Dispose of the multiport blood collection device.
Since establishing S2 Medtech and developing the multi-tube blood draw device, we have been working diligently to bring our innovative medical device to market. So far, S2 Medtech has reached the following milestones.
Manufacturing Partnership – We have established a manufacturing partnership to produce the multi-tube blood draw units.
Proven Concept – As displayed by our test results and video, we have proven that the multi-tube blood draw unit is effective.
Patent Pending – We have submitted the documents to receive patent protection for the multi-tube blood draw device.
In order to bring the multi-tube blood draw device to market, S2 Medtech needs to reach a few milestones.
Buy a Mold – We have found a manufacturer for small medical plastic parts. We just need to pay them to make the mold for the multi-tube blood draw units in their facility. They will also produce two to three thousand Blood Draw Units for infacilty testing at several hospitals and other medical facilities.
Establish Partnerships – We will start rolling out the multi-tube blood draw units in a few partner hospitals for additional real-world product testing. We will test within Texas at first and then kick off nationwide sales.
Hire a Team – We need to hire a phlebotomist to conduct product demonstrations. We also need to hire at least one sales professional.
