Paul Bolger will complete the hardback edition third volume of HOUND, and conclude the story of the mythical Celtic hero Cú Chulainn!
ABOUT
HOUND: Liberator will be the third volume in a trilogy of visually stunning Graphic Novels retelling one of Europe’s oldest myths, written and drawn by Paul Bolger and co-written by Barry Devlin. Hound volumes 1 and 2 are almost sold out but you will be glad to hear we have a small number of copies available as rewards here if you are new to the project.
The limited, numbered & signed hardback edition of Hound 3: Liberator will bring this mythical Iron Age adventure to an exciting and epic conclusion.
After earning a reputation for being the champion of champions in Hound 1: Protector; and choosing love over glory, and hanging up his blade in Hound 2: Defender, Celtic über warrior Cú Cullan is forced to face an invasion horde alone with tragically heroic consequences.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO CREATE?
We want to fulfill and try our utmost to exceed our readers expectations with Book Three. After running two previously successful Kickstarter campaigns for Hound 1: protector and Hound 2: Defender we are now looking to raise the funds to complete the trilogy with Hound 3: Liberator. Above all we want to find new readers to become an invaluable part of taking this epic to it’s high octane end.
WHAT THEY SAID ABOUT HOUND
‘Really enjoyed reading HOUND. Paul Bolger and Barry Devlin have done a great job with re- imagining the story of the Irish mythical hero, Cuchulainn. Looking forward to the next instalment.’ Aidan Turner, Actor (The Hobbit, Poldark)
“Hound is a stunning example of comics storytelling being used to reinvigorate ancient legends for a modern audience. Paul Bolger utilises a dynamic drawing technique that echoes both Mignola and Frazetta yet has a look that’s uniquely his own, the pages fairly zing with personality, wit and style.” Tomm Moore, Animation Director (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea)
‘I thought this was a bloody marvellous book: magical, violent and visceral but with a glorious seam of comedy and irony to bring light to the spectacular Celtic landscapes of Paul’s imagination.’ Peter Lord, Animation Director (Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit) and Founder of Aardman Animation
“Beautiful, spare and timeless, Paul’s artwork on Hound shows the work of master draughtsman and storyteller – I always know something is good when I’m so envious it hurts!” Dermot Power, Concept Artist/Film Designer (Batman Begins, Harry Potter, Star Wars)
As this is our third Kickstarter campaign for HOUND we have a clear idea of the production time lines, the costs, the pitfalls of post & packaging, working with the printers etc. The only risk to the project is if something were to happen to Paul, as Paul is is irreplaceable! But as long as nothing befalls Paul then there is very little foreseeable risk.
The main challenge will be to deliver the rewards exactly on time. We haven’t allowed spare time, because to add in time contingency would add in costs, which would make reaching our funding goal even more challenging, so while our schedule is achievable, it is necessarily tight.
The main potential downside for backers is having to wait and extra month for their reward.
