To design and publish a Fairtrade cookery book to raise money for a local charity for the homeless.
How would you feel if you had to live on the streets, a dark, endless, black hole, for the rest of your life? During the next fifteen weeks, Year 6 children from The Wilfred Owen School, Shrewsbury, intend to design and publish a Fairtrade cookery book. The profits will be given to The Shrewsbury Ark, a local charity which offers comfort and support to the homeless so they can get a better life. Fairtrade helps people all around the globe so our chosen recipes will all include fairtrade products, whilst The Shrewsbury Ark helps our local community.
We have been inspired by the stories of those people helped by both Fairtrade and The Shrewsbury Ark. If you choose to donate to our project we will use the money to get our book published and sold. Whatever you donate, we promise to increase through our efforts.
Could you live without family and friends, where the only people to talk to are walking past you on the streets? The Shrewsbury Ark provides a place to socialise as well as a place offering support, so the people living in the dark silence of loneliness can step into the light.
