Youth 4 Global Goals initiative marks its first anniversary and releases the annual report
Rotterdam, the Netherlands: Youth4GlobalGoals (#Youth4GG) is an AIESEC Initiative which aims to activate youth towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Started a year ago together with Asian Development Bank (ADB), PVBLIC Foundation and UN-Habitat, the initiative mobilized 32.000 young volunteers to contribute to the SDGs in the social projects abroad. Today, AIESEC is launching the annual report of the initiative.
Among numerous successes of the initiative, the highlights of 2016 are: 12.5 million people became aware of the SDGs through various global campaigns; 56.000 people have participated in YouthSpeak Forum events in 200 locations around the world. Moreover, AIESEC has run over 4500 social projects in 122 countries and territories to help advance the Global Goals.
Through taking part in this projects young volunteers had an opportunity to help the communities while developing themselves. ‘[Participation in the project] makes me understand that it only takes will and time to make real impact possible and I am motivated to invest both of them, even more, to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs,’ says Rares Man, Global Volunteer from Romania.
Looking forward, as a part of the initiative in 2017 AIESEC is launching The Young Person’s Guideline to Saving the World, a set of actions every young person in the world can make to help to achieve the SDGs. The Guideline will be published in March.
