My name is Pinkey Reddick. I am a young African american woman born and raised in Washington DC. My mom’s family is from Ft Lauderdale Florida and my dad family is from Columbia South Carolina so I have southern roots. It all started when I spent a summer in Quitman Georgia with my granddad and grandmother; waking early in the morning to prepare breakfast with grandma by 6am and dinner prepped and prepared by noon daily, which created my passion for cooking. During my childhood I spent hours with my mom perfecting my grandmother’s recipe for 7up pound cake, sauerkraut and ribs and many other recipes. We didn’t have a lot of money but we had food. My mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2010 since I have taken over as the family cook. I am the cook for most of my friends and family and my food has always been complemented as having flavor and style. I cook Sunday school breakfast for my church every Sunday morning. I have been in the food industry for the past 14 years and managing for the last 4 years at the Olive Garden. I love food and have a vast pallet. On many occasions I have found in my local area I can’t find the food I want when I want it. When I found that food it is typically bland. We do a lot of fasting so having flavorful veggie options makes it easier. My son’s school does not currently have a lunch program and his former school lunch was not good. I was sending lunch to school with him and teachers and other students became interested and once a month I prepared lunch for others as well. The idea came to me that there is a great need for flavorful food for teacher’s students businesses, and families so I decided to start Pinke’S E.AT.S.
