This year we are planning our inaugural Festival of Innovative Ideas, a yearly community event which is an opportunity to celebrate how our students are innovative, inclusive and both inspiring and inspried. This is a celebration of creative ideas with a real world impact on life, work or play. A unique opportunity for students to both showcase their own innovations as well as be inspired by experts in a range of fields who ‘bring creative ideas to life’ every day. The purpose of the event is to both promote student innovation and to raise funds to assist kids to bring creative ideas to life everyday in their classrooms.
Victoria Avenue is a growing new public primary school with a very diverse student group. Here we prepare our community of learners for their futures by creating students who are passionate about learning, who strive to shape their critical and creative ideas into meaningful innovations. We aim to provide every student with the tools they need to collaborate, to succeed and to lead. We commenced in 2015 and now have about 180 students and cater for a diverse community. Our school represents over 37 different cultural and linguistic groups including 13% Korean, 15% Mandarin and 7% Arabic speaking families, some of these students are from refugee backgrounds. In addition to our diverse mainstream classes we have 4 inclusive learning classes promoting excellence for students with a range of disabilities (including students who are Deaf and hearing impaired, have Autism, Down Syndrome, Vision Impairment, Intellectual disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Hunter Syndrome, Costello Syndrome, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, ADHD and Landau Kleffner Syndrome). At Victoria Avuenue we pride oursleves on planning for the edges and by considering the needs of the most diverse students in our population we can truely engage everyone.
At VAPS we have big ideas and we bring them to life.
