David Thomas, Dakar motorcycle competitor, is ready for the challenge of pushing through the unknowns over 8800KMs. The focus is to ride a smart race, take care of the bike with an assistance team, and stay focused on getting to the finish line. He needs to raise R2,300,000 in less than 90days, to cover both his and his bike crew entry ticket with a no risk to rider fully inclusive package. About This Project

David Thomas, will be making his lifelong dream a reality by taking on the longest and toughest off-road rally in the world, THE DAKAR RALLY.

He is competitive, determined, focused with only one goal in mind: to finish the Dakar safely.

DAKAR 2017 is DAVID’S very first Dakar Rally. He will be riding a Husqvarna 450 Rally Bike, supported by his HT Rally team.

The competitors will travel 8,800 kilometers in 2 weeks – through Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina. Scaling altitudes of almost 4000m above sea level, through inhospitable terrains, deserts and mountain ranges that will literally take their breath away.

The BUILD UP and PREPARATION to the DAKAR Rally 2017

From the moment David decided to enter the Dakar 2017 in January 2016, the roaring machine of the logistic and financial pressure started. David had to plunge deep into his savings to make his Dakar 2017 dream a reality and participate the qualifying training races; Each training race costs between EURO 20 000 – 30 000 per event

October 2016:

Training in Lesotho, and to make a further down payment to the Dakar organisation.

November 2016:
Train in specialized high altitude facilities to acclimatize to high altitudes that he will experience in Bolivia.

23Nov – Attend Dakar press conference in Paris 

December 2016:
Depart with Team David Thomas to Paraguay

January 2017: DAKAR RACE
2-14 Dakar 2017
