Yes, your favourite dirty magazine is going Back to the Future. Trail Run Mag is going print!
We’re getting some flesh on our digital bones, and making the move to becoming a grown-up, subscriber-based quarterly print magazine that will be delivered straight to your door.
We have already produced 21 editions that we have published as a digital download for anyone to get for free (see www.trailrunmag.com/magazines). Unfortunately, nothing that’s free lasts forever (and we reckon five years’ of free awesome content is pretty decent!). So we hope you have loved Trail Run Mag enough that you feel it is worth supporting to keep it alive.
We’re launching this Pozible campaign to rally enough subscriptions to push the print button. We are super excited about going to print but we need subscribers to make it work. To make a quarterly print edition of Trail Run Mag a reality, we need your upfont support to cover the costs of design, print and delivery.
With your subscription not only do you get the best damn train running mag around, you can grab a whole bunch of added extras as foundation subscriber packages:
This is the ony time you’ll be able to get the first edition – you could subscribe some time down the track, but we’ll not be doing back editions and we expect to sell out. So get on board now!
You can help. You’re part of this. We need you to make the quarterly print edition viable from the get-go. Sign up for a subscription, sign up your runner mate whose birthday is coming up, get someone an early christmas present, and make sure to share the news about the Pozible campaign so all your mates can get in on it too.
You know Trail Run Mag. You trust us. You’re gonna love us in print.
Once you subscribe, you’ll get your first of four editions beginning early November.
A huge thanks for your ongoing support and we hope to see your name on the subscription list!
One life. Many trails.
Chris, Tegyn, Amanda and the rest of the TRM team.
NOTE of THANKS:
We will eventally be also selling the magazine via selected specialist running retailers – those who truly ‘get’ the trail running lifestyle and are as passionate about it as we are. We want to thank those retailers, along with Smartwool, At One and VFuel Australia, for their support in the launch of the print edition.
The funds will be used very simply – to pay for the print and delivery of the Trail Run Magazine.
We will continue to source the best content, the most inspiring images and carry the strong editorial line that you love then we will use the money raised from subscriptions to cover design, printing and delivery to your door.
We do have some advertising that will contribute, and which has to date been used to pay the designer and some contributors. But the overall bill per edition for the magazine will be around $20,000 – so that’s a bill of $80,000 a year that we need to cover (and that isn’t including postal costs) via subscriptions.
The biggest challenge is the most obvious – we need to reach enough trail runners who want to subscribe to make this thing a reality.
We know trail running is booming. And we know that our content is relevant and very, VERY different to any other running magazine out there. We don’t rehash race reports or push the same old leg squat exercise routines! Nope – Trail Run Mag is a cerebral running magazine, that recognises we’re here to inspire and make you drool, as much as we’re here to prod, and poke and make you think about the why’s and how’s of running. And sometimes shock you and elicit a laugh or two. And we know that our mag in print will be a thing of beauty, to be kept, savoured and collected.
Our other challenge is administration – we’re no Rupe Murdochs. Not even close. Instead, we have ‘day jobs’ and until now, Trail Run Mag has been a passion project. What are we saying, it’ll always remain a passion project, but we would like to make it viable at least for the contributors who write for us and shoot for us. And we need your help to do that.
‘Our audience’ is an abstract concept, but we know trail runners and we know the trail runners that read Trail Run Mag. We are confident that runners want a print edition. That’s why we are doing it.
