Tracy’s story

I have lived on Milwaukee’s fashionable East Side since I was born. I come from a family of Italian restaurant owners, so I’ve always dreamed of owning my own company. In 2002 I decided to go to Manicuring school, and I fell in love. I had a natural talent for nails and nail art. Being a Nail Artist for over 14 years has given me the opportunity to meet some amazing people! I love being able to make someone feel relaxed, happy and beautiful. I decided to take the leap in 2008 and go out on my own. In the past 8 years I have built a large clientele, became a Manicuring Instructor, and went back to school to become an Esthetician. I have recently moved, and am in need of new equipment. My goal is to expand the space and rent to other artists in the industry who are driven to be business owners themselves.

This loan is special because:

It helps a woman entrepreneur expand her business and support other artists in her community.

More about this loan

Business Description

I started Nails By Tracy in the summer of 2008. I had already been in the Beauty Industry for 6 years, and was ready to go out on my own. I specialize in Natural Nails, Gel Polish, Minx and French Manicures & Pedicures. I have a very diverse clientele ranging from young children to seniors, I serve both men and women, and have a very good reputation in the Milwaukee area.

In 2011 I became a Manicuring Instructor. I love teaching the art of nails, and working at an Aveda school helped build my skills. Because of educating in this environment, I am confident in my knowledge of State Laws, Safety and Sanitation.

While I was teaching, I also went to school full time to get licensed as an Esthetician. I was able to expand my service list to include Facials, Waxing and Makeup. This has opened up my business to a whole new clientele, it’s been a wonderful addition.

Some of the equipment in my new space is very outdated. I’m hoping to use this loan to purchase new equipment and expand the space.

What is the purpose of this loan?

I am looking to purchase a Pedicure Station and Manicure Station, there will be carpentry and plumbing work that will need to be done as well. I will also be using the money to update some of the smaller equipment I use for nail services. New equipment will offer my clients more comfort during their services, and the updated smaller equipment will allow my to work faster and more efficiently.
