I am an artist and art educator in Phoenix, Arizona. For the first 16 years of my life, I was raised in a single parent home, where my mother taught me the value of hard work, creativity, and self-reliance. Through her spirit and strength, I learned the risks and benefits of self-employment, and much of where I am today I attribute to what I learned by watching her succeed. Today, I am a successful artist and art educator running my own teaching studio, where I focus on adult art education, and I travel around the USA teaching specialty workshops to students in studios around the country.

More about this loan
Milkweed Arts is an adult arts education center where we offer college-level art education without the need for a university environment. We offer classes in a variety of mediums, including glass, metal, painting, drawing, printmaking, fibers, silk-dyeing, mosaic, and more. Metro Phoenix, one of the largest cities in the USA, was severely lacking in arts education opportunities outside of the university setting, an with Milkweed Arts, we hope to fill that gap, bringing quality art education to the general public. Some of our students aspire to a future career in the arts, while others just want to learn a new skill they can enjoy during their “down time” from their regular day job. We are always looking at ways to expand our offerings to meet the needs of our community, and to adapt to their needs.
