When decisions aren’t your own and the repetition of orders becomes too much to bare, the only option is to find a way out.
A short film about the stresses of living in a city set in a bleak future reminiscent of 80s SciFi films. We are looking for investment from the end consumers of the film, you. With little money we aim to make a big production.
A young man is held in a room without being given any reason as to why. He is forced to repeat the same routine in an endless loop; eating, sleeping and watching a strange film cycle on and off, his only contact being a voice over an intercom. After frustration and mania set in he has only one way to escape, through using the routine against his unknown captors. He sets up his plan and executes it in order to find answers, but the truth is far from what he imagined.
The film is styled in the vein of 80s SciFi and Conspiracy films where an unknown bureaucracy, The Sisyphean Institute, is playing puppet master at the cost of it’s subordinates. Through exploring the emotions of city life in the context of confinement and forced behaviour, we aim to present a look at the world we live in. More than providing insight and understanding, we want to create a beautiful film that will stun the audience through the visuals, sound and performance. We want to entertain you after all.
We are a student filmmaking team currently enrolled at AFDA Cape Town.
R 5 000, we can make the film. The set and props can be built and sourced. The crew can rest easy knowing there will be coffee on set. No thrills or flourishes, but we get it made.
R 12 000, we can make the film, better and bigger. We can build a larger set and fill it with speciality props. We can provide tea and coffee on set. Marketing now has a budget and we are only constrained by our imaginations.
