The Art of Tea – Bouteaque

The art of tea began in 2000 as a Salamanca stall, and still today we can be found at this iconic Market every Saturday.

In 2007, Samantha took over the business and took steady steps to grow the business to include online shopping for our interstate tea lovers, increased our presence in a range of awesome cafe’s, restaurants, tourist gift shops and gourmet providores, and also opened the front office at the warehouse in Kingston as a retail option for locals. We now have over 130 varieties of teas & herbal infusions including award winning blends such as our Tasmanian Breakfast, Snooze Blend, NUDI-tea (blended for MONA), Choc-Mintea, and Rooibos Vanilla Chai.

Our mission is to be THE Tasmanian tea brand, providing quality loose leaf teas and infusions for your health and enjoyment and maintain our care and engagement in genuine relationships with all of our customers. We began that way 9 years ago and we are even more committed to it now.

The challenge for us – how do we make ourselves more accesible to our existing loved and loyal customers and create new relatonships with locals and visitors and talk more tea tea tea!! So the plan has been to find the best little retail space that’s handy for people to visit, overcoming the customer constraints of Saturdays (hassle of) Salamanca Market  or the inacccesibility Kingston  (9-5 M-F).

In July we found the perfect place in Battery Point (52 Sandy Bay Road)! With parking immediately out the front, we knew this would be a great spot to finally better provide for our customers.

Just imagine…all of our 130+ tea range available, not limited to Saturdays, new delightful teawares, free tea samples every day, and even your favourite brew made for you as either take away or to enjoy upon this gorgeous seat in the bouteaque bay window!

How The Funds Will Be Used

To renovate and set up this small space to be a beautiful bouteaque experience …..about $10,000 is needed for:

  • shelving,
  • painting,
  • building signage,
  • furniture,
  • POS &
  • new internet connection

The Challenges

As a small (micro) business operating in a seasonal environment in Tasmania, shipping all the ingredients in from overseas and most expensively across the Bass Strait, employing now 10 lovely locals to hand blend, label and package every box of tea is a highly rewarding but low profit business.

The cost of setting up a new retail space for the growth of the business and to provide a more accessible outlet for our valued loyal customers and to give tourists another memorable Tasmanian experience is a tough ask on a very tight budget.

Samantha and her tea-m want your help to make this a success. We are so excited about expanding and we want to be The Tasmanian Tea brand for you, your friends and family!!!

Our values are : Health, Caring, Relationships, being Genuine, and making a difference. We want to continue to share these with you 🙂

Please donate on this campaign to help us make a special bouteaque in Battery Point for your health and enjoyment xo
