SHORT FILM – FAITHLESS
FAITHLESS is a dark thriller that explores the tough subjects of; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), suicide, and the lengths a parent will travel to get redemption for the death of their child.
This campaign is to help us shoot a proof of concept, although it will be a short film in it’s own right, it’s intention will be to show the industry it’s potential as a feature film. This is how some of our favourite feature films were born, films such as ‘300’, ‘Sin City’, and ‘District 9’. A powerful set of scenes are chosen from the main body of the script and shot to demonstrate to future investors that the film has a place in the market. Which we believe it has.
It’s an intense character driven thriller combining traditional thriller elements interwoven with a noir feel to accentuate the starkness. Think along the lines of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Mystic River, Prisoners, Chinatown, The Third Man and you’re in the realms of possibility.
And just like those great films, Faithless is an original story with great characters that are instantly recognisable but also intriguing and mysterious, allowing us to enjoy the journey.
The film has been written by Steve McCarten a producer of several shorts and corporate projects and an actor from stage and screen with several feature film and television credits to his name and James Dwyer a screenwriter and a Blog Awards Winner.
Steve’s dream has always been to direct feature films and now he’s going to make that happen. To help achieve this, he has been mentored by the BAFTA-nominated and accomplished film maker in his own right, Tim Clague. Tim recently celebrated the release of his own feature film Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg which premiered at the British Film Institute sponsored London Film Festival. Steve is further being mentored by the astute Suki Singh director of high profile television commercials and award winning feature films ‘Emulsion’ and ‘Olive Green’.
Furthermore, the script for Faithless has undergone intense scrutiny from the wonderful Danny Stack. Alongside his own writing/directing career, Danny Stack is a script consultant, and has previously worked as a script reader for a variety of film companies including Working Title, Pathe, Miramax (Harvey Weinstein era) and the UK Film Council, to name but a few. He was development script editor for the British film, The Man Inside, starring Peter Mullan (2012), and he script edited the Irish-language feature film Kings starring Colm Meaney (2007).
Having already had a hugely successful kickstarter campaign (thanks guys!) (kickstarter.com/projects/1253032189/faithless-a-steve-mccarten-film) we need your help again. With the length of our short film changing from having a running time of under 10 minutes to now being 20 minutes – the cost of production (5 shoot days) and post production will sadly rise and we need your help, in whatever form that may be, to make this production happen.
We are now seeking the production funding to shoot the film in September 2016. We have locked in our shooting dates 11th – 15th September 2016 and now just need the last bit of funding to secure the filming goes as planned to keep it at the level that the industry expects.
With your help this can be a film every single one of us can be proud to be a part of.
Donations of course are the most direct way to help us out, but there’s another way you can help us: Just by Spreading the Word! Tell your friends about the Kickstarter by sharing the link below. Tell your family! Tell your neighbours, hell, tell your neighbours dog!
Show them that you’ve pledged your support and we’ll do the same! From £5 to £1,000, we’ve got a perk to fit your comfort level. Your pledge is greatly appreciated and we cannot thank you enough for helping us make this fantastic film!
If you own a business and would like to become a sponsor, we have perks for that, too!!
With a combination of our own money, existing resources, generosity of the crew (and the Kickstarter funds), we can meet the required budget.
For the past few months the Faithless team has been slaving away. Securing locations, crew and most importantly attaching an amazing cast.
