Play and Chance
I am a 29 year old passionate and innovative entrepreneur who thrives on a challenge. I’ve spent the last several years working as a matchmaker and dating coach. Having developed a fascination with marriage, for over 10 years I studied the science of attraction, dating and relationships, as well as interviewed dozens of couples who have been married anywhere from 10-50 years, in order to understand not only what brings people together, but why they choose to stay together. As a result, I’ve seen first hand, the growing epidemic of loneliness and the pain those who struggle to form meaningful bonds experience. It was my own childhood experience of living around a toxic relationship that fueled my desire to understand the qualities that make for healthy, supportive bonds. I use humor and ingenuity to help people navigate modern singleness by having fun, and (most importantly) by becoming intimately acquainted with the one person they can’t live without … themselves. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, my desire to focus full-time on Play and Chance, brought me back home after living in Denver, CO.

More about this loan
Play and Chance is a community platform for Generation Y. We have an online magazine, live “connection” events fueled by our custom game Play Dating, as well as a mobile applicaiton launching in Q4 2016. For now, our main revenue driver is Play and Chance Events. These “connection” events, are like speed dating, in that they guarantee everyone gets one-on-one time with each other.
The Play Dating Game gives attendees the freedom to let their hair down, be present, and let their personality shine. This enables attendees to better connect, and increases the chances of a mutual match. Our aim is to facilitate friendships and romantic relationships for those who are new in town or single with a bunch of married friends who they no longer can go out and socialize with.
I’ve been working on the concept for over a year. We started out gradually by hosting events, and now will be expanding into mobile. We’ve held 8 successful Play and Chance Events with little to no advertising, but it is time to expand our reach. This will not only help us to increase our revenue, but also ensure that our returning attendees have opportunities to make new connections at each event.
The biggest challenge has been starting a business without cash or raising venture capital. We’re bootstrapping, and with that comes challenges. We do feel that Play and Chance Events are the platform we need to generate significant revenue, however we’re in need of operating capital, mainly earmarked for advertising, to enable us to reach who we need to reach in the early stages, in order to host sold out events every week. As a result we’ve had to adjust strategies and now require advertising dollars to fill our initial set of events.
