Marlowe’s story

I’m the Founder and mastermind behind MASH Detroit. As the executive champion, I am responsible for business development, property management and strategic direction for all aspects of the space. Considered by many an expert relationship builder and someone who “makes things happen”, I am trusted and respected by mentors, peers and young professionals for being loyal, ethical, and non-political.

I’m a dynamic professional with over 15 years of business, communications and community experience; leveraging proficiency in project management, marketing, and multi-level relationship-building to influence and drive planning, growth and engagement strategies of local and national companies.

A natural leader with a proven track record in building diverse relationships; including experience with C-suite executives, business, civic and community leaders, fundraising campaigns and social entrepreneurs. A student of diversity and culture with tangible international experience (and networks) in cross-cultural communications, market analysis and business development. I’m a 2012 Crain’s Detroit Business 40 under 40 awardee and 2013 American Marshall Memorial Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

More about this loan

Business Description

MASH Detroit is mixed-use venue that features shared retail, meeting, and event space where everyone can WORK, PLAY, CONNECT & BUILD. We bring together, or MASH, the diverse people, ideas and experiences of Detroit culture under the roof of a 6,000 square foot, street-level storefront at the corner of Mack Ave. & Ashland St. MASH is designed to inspire creativity, collaboration and engagement – serving as a reliable and experiential destination hub of organic social collisions that foster neighborhood enrichment and residential connections. As founder of Mash Detroit and a someone who grew up in this neighborhood, I have made a personal pledge to ensure that no longer will my fellow Eastsiders have to leave their immediate community to engage, grow and innovate in an environment that rivals the same energy, quality and experienced talent and resource found in places like Detroit’s revived downtown and midtown. Our current partners and sponsor network include: Butterfly Effect Detroit, Good People Popcorn, Bohomodern, The Eastside Community Network, CanvasXdetroit, Block x Block, Land Inc., Bamboo Detroit, Build Institute, TechTown SWOT City, The Greening of Detroit, Detroit Historical Society, Detroit Public Theater, Civilla, Quicken Loans, Detroit Xperience Factory, MarsPaule, Workaholics, JOURNi, Teen Hype, and a growing list of others.
